Jellyfish Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Has any past JF brides used the DJ that Mayte sets-up instead of Mania? Mayte told me that the one she uses does not use an hourly rate, just 1 fee for the night. If anyone has used this option were they okay? :) We are also debating on photographer, I like Phil's work but I am not sure I want to spend $2600 and I also don't think I need 12 hours of coverage :)

I would 100% reserve the restaurant.  I didn't want ppl hearing my speaches or being drunk around my guests.  If you were getting married locally you would have a private wedding right!!  Just to give you an example, during my wedding a really really drunk man came into the restaurant and starting standing with my guests, he got escorted out right away.  I would have been so upset if we didn't have it private and he could drink at the bar or near us.

We are also thinking of reserving the restaurant just to ourselves. At 24 ppl for your wedding -- would you say it was worth it to book the entire restaurant? We will be 30+ ppl (the number keeps growing) so I'm thinking we might as well cough up the $1000 for more privacy, lol.

I used Michael Stiengard who is Phil's nephew - they cost the same amount of money, $2600 and it was WELL worth it. That includes the TTD and I did do it.  My guest were in aww of Michael and ppl have said I have the best photo's they have even seen.

I am also considering the DJ that Mayte has, but I'm also just considering doing the ipod. I already have my list of songs ready to go for each part of the wedding. Did anyone use the sound system there? Do you use the sound system going down the aisle? If so, how did that work out? Let me know please! Thanks :)

Booked my date! April 23rd, 2012, reception at the Jellyfish. SOOO EXCITED :)

I also would love to hear some reviews about the DJ that Mayte provides.... only $200 less for the sound system seems ridiculous...

And if any brides brought their own Ipod dock to use, was it loud enough? (I don't remember if I read about this here or somewhere else)

Thanks!

Hey Ladies,

When I asked Mayte what she thought of DJ Mannia versus the DJ they use, she also stated that their DJ doesn't charge hourly and charge extra if you go over your time limit. DJ Mannia charges like $150 per hour if you go over. It also sounded like she preferred the service of this DJ, but she could be just favoring him for the restaurant's sake.

I would love to know if any brides out there used this DJ. We are planning on going with him too!

It seems we are all looking for the same answers..if we bring our own ipod dock is it loud enough? Is Mayte's DJ good enough that we should get him for the $200 extra rather than their sound system? Can anyone out there help??

Only 49 more days for me ahhh.

Also did anyone ship anything to Mayte? I want to use real touch flowers instead of real ones and it would help me alot if I just ship them there instead of trying to bring it down. Anyone do this? or anyone use fake flowers? Thanks!

Hi ladies, I stopped by Jellyfish during a wedding in Jan just to check it out.  Everything was beautiful however the DJ didnt really impresss me.  ALTHOUGH just to be fair, I didnt stay that long so I'm not sure if it got any better.  I reallly want to go with DJ MANNIA however I dont know if I could justify his cost vs Mayte's DJ :(

Hi Ladies!

I'm getting married at the Jellyfish in a couple of weeks on the 27th of May.  I just decided to use the DJ that Mayte recommends.  We were going to use our iPod but the more I thought about it the easier having a DJ seems.  I don't want to have worry about the music the whole night and I know I would probably be the one controlling it :P  I am still going to bring my iPod that has a ton of songs on it that we want to hear in case he doesn't have something.  We will be meeting with Mayte a few days before the wedding and she told us to have a list of songs for the DJ.

Can't believe we're going to be down there so soon!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
