Ok, so I have called the restaurant 4 times today, and I'm unable to get through.  The line rings then all I get is a busy signal crybaby2.gif.  I just want to get this date set.  I hope I am able to get through soon or she emails me soon.

Good luck everyone!

She will reply just give her some more time :) Stay calm  in the mean time.

I know she will eventually contact me AR....i'm just nervous about the date still being available.  I have no other choice but to wait and be calm.  I'll try calling again tomorrow morning.  Thanks for the encouragement :)

I know exactly how you feel and I know it's not fun at all. In the end I did not get the day I wanted but instead got the day before and to be honest it was just fine. When we are in the DR everyday is a weekend! The resorts are quite flexible so if you had to change you time at the resort (provided you are having your ceremony there) they are usually really accomodating. Are you trying to book a date for next year? And have you started booking anything or sent out any invites?

Whatever you do don't panic. Our wedding plans fell apart when La Barcaza changed ownership and messed us over for the $1200 deposit that we made. So in January, with only 6 months left to replan our entire wedding, we managed to do it :) And the worst part was that all of our guests (60 of them) were already booked and paid, our invites were long gone, and I had no wedding venue! In the end our wedding date changed but no one really cares once they have booked.

Just email her again and wait it out :)

I know everyone isn't going to be there as long as we will be so that's why I definitely want to get these dates locked down.  The day after is already gone and the day before may leave out a number of guests that might not be able to get away but in the end, i'll do whatever needs to be done.  Yes, next year is the timeframe and I have reached out to the hotel, and also have a TA that's also checking into the rates so as soon as I have that information locked down I will feel much better. No save the dates have gone out yet because I'd like to have my dates set before I do.

You're so right, there's definitely no need to panic because it could be worse.  I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you with La Barcaza.  I had thought about that, but it doesn't meet all the needs I have so that's why I didn't do further research into it.  I'm happy to hear though that that you were able to change your venue and plans and everything is still moving forward for you and your guests.  That's great!

I did email again yesterday , but when I saw that someone else was able to call and have success, that's why I thought it might be a good idea to just make a quick call and hope for the best.  I am sure it will happened soon! :)

I received an email from Mayte saying my date was locked.. but as she is extremely busy that she will provide a quote as soon as she can. Does anyone know if I need to send the deposit now to actually have my date locked 100%, or if I am OK to wait to send my deposit until I get a quote? I just want to make sure my date is for sure locked since I'll be sending out save the dates soon.

Hi Blue,

How did you save your date with Mayte?  Did she reply to your email or did you just call the restaurant?  I emailed a while ago, but have not yet received a response.  I see your date is the day after the one i'm trying to obtain.  Please do let me know how your visit goes and if you receive a 2014 price listing.  I think i'm going to plan a trip soon with a friend because my fiancé is on travel often, and he might not be able to go.  If you receive add'l details or pricing that would be WONDERFUL if you could email that to me at jackieandlaury2013@gmail.com.  I hope i'm able to get the date because I think the venue is perfect.

Hey JandL2013,

So I was pretty lucky and got Mayte on the phone way back in January to reserve the date. I called at a really random time and only expected to leave a message, but she happened to be at Jellyfish for a wedding and had a couple of minutes to talk. Then I sent her a follow up e-mail and she has responded pretty randomly to those. I think it depends on the amount of e-mails she has and the priority of the event... since we're 2014, we have low priority for now. That being said, I e-mailed her again a couple of weeks before my trip to DR to set a time to meet and that happened pretty quickly. We went to visit back in February and I think they have had almost non-stop weddings since then..

As for pricing, I don't have the 2014 pricelist.. I didn't even realize that 2013 list had been updated! Goodluck with planning your trip! One piece of advice, if you plan to visit and evaluate resorts and don't plan to get married on premise, make sure you make appointments with the groups department, not the wedding departments... weddings will just transfer you to groups and it can become a huge time suck!

Hi Blue!

Yea, i'm realizing that this is a very very busy timeframe for her so it's been difficult to get a hold of her.  I did  speak to the restaurant manager yesterday, but she wasn't there at that time.  I just have to be patient and wait that's all.  I'm happy for you that you were able to get your timeframe reserved early.  I'm sure that's a big stress reliever.  I'm working with a TA that's helping me organize the group rates, but i'm pretty certain that i'll be taking a trip down at some point soon to take a look at the location to have a better feel for where i'm staying and getting married.  Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated!

If you have the 2013 pricelist, would you be able to send that to me?  I'd love to take a look at it so I can have idea what i'll be deciding on when the time comes.  My email is jackieandlaury2013@gmail.com.

Good luck with your planning! rolleyes.gif

Hello all,

I finally got through to Mayte today.  She is a sweetheart!  And i'm all set for my date.  I couldn't be more relieved or happier woot.gif

I've been smiling all evening.  First, I got great information from my TA today regarding my hotel and then now The Jellyfish.

That is simply phenomenal news! I am so happy for you! :) I guess when it rains, it pours. I sent along the 2013 pricelist I have.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
