Jellyfish Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Hey all, Does anyone happen to know if there is anywhere to get dressed at the Jellyfish? I think I read somewhere that they were creating a dressing room at the restaurant but not sure if it has been completed yet ( or really, even it is true). The problem I think I might end up having is paying a outside vendor fee for my make-up/hair stylist, photog, and videog just for the few hours that I am getting ready at the resort! Anyone else have this problem or maybe have come up with a solution for it yet?

My girls and I got ready at jellyfish to avoid the outside fees also. Mayte has an office you can use, and set it up for us with floor lengrh mirrors, chairs etc. She will also give you food and drinks all day, loved it! Its not the most private but worked for us. They are building a dressing room area as well but hadn't even been started yet back in December.

Thank you! I feel much better now reading this! My wedding is supposed to be May 2014, I hope that is enough time for them to finish the dressing room. If not, I still think it would be okay. Did your groom and groomsmen get ready at the Jellyfish too? I would love to have shots of the guys while they get dressed without having to pay a vendor fee.

You're welcome to come get ready at Jellyfish, but the conditions are not ideal. The room is the Jellyfish office. One wall is filled entirely with liquor bottles. There's a desk & computer in the corner and sometimes one of the owners may sit there and work as you get ready, occasionally yelling in Spanish on the phone :) Mayte also uses it as storage space for some of her decorations. There are two beautiful full length mirrors and on occasion (at brides' request), she has transformed it into more of a 'getting ready' space by simply bringing in a table with some chairs for your girls and 'stations' for your make-up / hair artist to work. As a photographer, I'm always trying to find creative ways to shoot there so that you don't see that it's an office... Here are a few examples from my blog:

Let Mayte know ahead of time that you want to get ready at the office and she will accommodate you! It just may not be as beautiful as a suite in your resort... But if your photographer is good, they will make it look fabulous anyway! :)

I contacted her and she seems very nice and very affordable! I have since booked her for my December 2013 wedding. Her portfolio looks good, and she suggests skyping with you before hand so that she can see you and discuss what your looking for. She is very affordable and flexible with her pricing!

So excited we got our date confirmed! 4/7/14!

Does anyone have information on if you need to pay the rental fee or not? I have read posts that stated $500 to rent out the bottom and beach  ($750 based on my date and 2013 price list) but read others that said they didn't have to pay the rental fee, just decoration fees. We are planning on having 30-40 people so don't know if we are required to rent out the bottom and the beach to have our ceremony and reception or if we will just take up most of the bottom and not really need to rent it out? We don't mind if there are other people around as long as there is a way to tell who is with our party at the bar (we are planning on paying per drink- not open bar plans).

Any assistance would be great!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
