Hi there - my fiance and I went to Punta Cana in June to do our engagement pictures, scope out resorts, to see JellyFish and to meet Mayte.  We fell deeper in love with Jellyfish after our visit.  Going off the resort is totally safe!  We ordered a cab to Jellyfish from our resort (we were staying at Dreams Palm Beach) and we never felt like we were in any danger.  You go down a really bumpy road right before the Jellyfish (about 2-3 mins drive) but once you arrive, its a beautiful view and awesome food!

I planned my trip to Jellyfish on a day there was a wedding so I could see first hand what it would be like.  Will post pictures soon.

Hi ladies! Just wondering what everyone is doing to for wedding favors? I have been trying to think of something local to give as favors so it feels authentic and we won't have to bring it with us. Here are some ideas that I have had so far, hot sauce, brugal rum, or mamajuana. I am really leaning towards the mamajuana, just really concerned of the cost. We did a site inspection in June and I remember seeing a nice bottle with a "leather" case that had the flag and DR on it for about 220 pesos but it was only the bark and no alcohol. Has anyone else purchased this or seen prices?

Hi there- we were there in June for a site visit and the wedding we saw had only 6 guests.  The upstairs portion of the restaurant is open for the general public and you will not be bothered by other guests.

We too, will not rent out the restaurant, it's not necessary.

Hi there - my fiance and I were a little weary about sending the wire deposit as well but decided too even though it wasn't necessary.  However, I ended up wriing the money (the wire cost about $30-$40 CAD) just so I could sleep with piece of mind that my date was secured.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
