Jellyfish Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies! I've read through quite a few of the posts but don't see a potential 2014 price idea in here yet (it's late and i could be missing something lol).

We are considering staying at the melia caribe, and having the wedding itself etc at the Jellyfish.

I am wondering if one of you with current pricing could email me (PM me for my email?) the info about pricing.

I'm wondering what we'd be looking at in terms of having

- 40-50 people

- bringing our OWN photographers (although we may reconsider if you all believe the jellyfish people know what they are doing lol)

- hours that we can party for:) I've seen 1am listed here? THAT'S WHAT I LIKE TO HEAR!

- also, what about transportation to jellyfish on wedding day, how does that work for guests etc?

Any detailed ideas on this stuff would be so much appreciated. I am finding this resort search etc is full of unknowns and hidden fees, so any concrete ideas of what we'd be looking at for overall cost here would be much appreciated!woot.gif

I'm happy to send you the pricelists. I have 2013. send me your email. :)

As for the other questions: There are actually quite a few photographers in Punta Cana -- around 7-10 depending on the season. Prices range from 1500 - 3500 for a 6-8 hour day. video tends to be about 500 - 1000 more. I guess you just have to look at the portfolios and see what inspires you. I know my SO and I had a clear favorite (Katya Nova).

One of the biggest selling points of jellyfish for us is that the party ends when you say it does. 11pm. 1am, 5am. it's all the same. :)

Jellyfish also provides transportation for a fee that seems reasonable. They can coordinate several pick-ups and drop offs too.

I'm with you on the resorts. I just find it to be completely and utterly confusing, misleading, and riddled with added fees. I'm finding not only is there fine print, but they don't even show it to you upfront, so it's hard to figure out the whole picture. Soo Annoying!! But goodluck!

I just want to make sure my date is for sure locked since I'll be sending out save the dates soon.

Hi gorgeous!!

The new requirement to hold the date is $500. As soon as everything is confirmed, Mayte will send out bank info for a transfer. Until then, you can trust her to have you penciled in! For the remainder of the payment, it's best to bring cash, as you'll save a considerable amount in tax.

thats great to hear!

smith did you plan your wedding and reception at jellyfish or wedding at majestic?

What did you like about majestic? How did your guests like it? Do you mind me asking what rates you got for people (e.g. under 1500 for travel and accomodations etc)?

Hi gorgeous!

* Dreams - I would wholeheartedly recommend either of the resorts (our wedding week was at the Palm Beach one), but Punta Cana is also fantastic (and larger, so you wouldn't have to worry about it filling up as quickly as Palm Beach might). I'd say, they are generally the best value for $.

* Paradisus - Palma Real is walking distance to Jellyfish, quite pricey. Paradisus Punta Cana is about 25 minutes away, is a good option. That was our other wedding choice and I blogged about it HERE {getting freaky with their outside vendor fee; $1000 but there are ways to reduce it}

* Now Larimar is a good one (and also very close to Jellyfish). It's nice and small, like Dreams Palm Beach.

* Barcelo Palace Deluxe is another good option (huge property; can be hit & miss with food & service), inflexible with any changes.

* Palladium is another good one. Very close to Jellyfish.

* Bahia Principe - 4 resorts in one, so enormous; about 25 minute drive from Jellyfish.

* We loooove Hard Rock, but a bit too big, about 25 minute drive to Jellyfish).

* Majestic is our least favourite (we hear most overall complaints from brides about this one, but some have had a great experience there).

* Melia - right next to Jellyfish, great value for $. The resort is huge, but really nice. The grounds are gorgeous! Very much recommend - we've done a few Melia/Jellyfish weddings and it's always super seamless! The guests can actually walk right over.

Hope this helps! Let me know if there are any specific questions about any of these, we've been there many times cheers.gif

Hugs from Punta Cana,

Katya.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
