Jellyfish Restaurant

On average, how much are you saving by having your reception here vs your resort? $1,000s? Base on pictures, the place is beautiful. I'm torn though. This place and the possibility of inviting more for less is the only reason I'm considering PC. Otherwise I would choose a location where the majority of my family have never visited.

I did a breakdown and I'm not saving. At the hotel (Bahia) I'd pay $7000 for about 30-40 guests but I'd be stuck with limited meal options, restrictions on locations to have the ceremony and receptions, restrictions on day of week and time of day of the ceremony, extra fees to bring in an outside dj or photographer... tons of fine print. I'm estimating $9500 at Jellyfish for a completely customized experience for a very important event. cheers.gif By the looks of it my decor, cake, DJ, food, photographer etc will be better at Jellyfish. That $9500 includes a photographer and videographer, DJ w MC, open bar etc and tons of privacy and intimacy which is priceless.

I am not sure what we saved bc I didn't look into.it.once we found jellyfish...Asha said it best! Jellyfish had no restrictions & 100% customized, along with better food & drink than at resorts, better atmosphere and privacy etc etc. I know the packages at our resort were more expensive and included less with a lot of restrictions.

This thread has been invaluable!

I am newly engaged and always knew I wanted a destination wedding. I have been scouring g this forum since I found it during a research on a potential resort. And then I found this gem of a thread and knew that Jellyfish was the venue I have always dreamt about.

I am booked for my September 2015 date on a weekend. :) Mayte told me she was already at 75% for 2015. So glad I was able to get my date!

Hi Ana, Jellyfish was a bit more expensive than the resort (Majestic Colonial). But the resort did 4 weddings per day, and looked all cookie cutter. You will absolutely not be disappointed with JF. It is 100% worth the extra money

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
