If you follow the Facebook Group, you may have seen this already but I wanted to warn everybody.

Apparently, if you booked in 2012, but did NOT get a firm pre-invoice before 2013, the restaurant will not honor the old pricing for you.. When I booked on Jan 4, 2012, I receive a wedding brochure with the "old" prices. She told me to wait to get the quote until I had firm numbers and not to worry about anything. At no point were we told that the pricing would change, or that getting a pre-invoice was time sensitive.

As everyone knows, communication with Mayte is near impossible. I've heard all all about how incredibly busy she is, so I decided to try to not bother her, and didn't hurry her about that quote (we were keeping our own tabs on pricing and budget based off of the brochure she had sent us.

Now suddenly, Mayte is saying that it's impossible to keep the old prices, since those were from 2009. Now, I know for a fact that brides were being charged these same "2009" prices in December of 2012 for their final invoices.

It's INCREDIBLY frustrating and I can't help but feel like we are being cheated.

that is so unfair. she should have notified everybody about the price increase or provided pre invoices!

Hi ladies!!

I just have a few more questions...

What bar option is everyone going with?  I am having trouble deciding on this...don't know if it would be better to do a tab as there are several guests that don't drink alcohol.  Does anyone know how much they charge for water, juice, and pop?

And also, for brides that have already been there: what appetizers are a must have, and which ones could you do without?

Thanks ladies.

Hello Ladies,

My ceremony and reception are @ JF on April 12, 2013 and Mayte has not mentioned anything about the the price increase in 2013. My date was confirmed with her in late November 2012. How much an increase are we talking about?!

Mayte is extremely busy and will answer each email, even though it may take upto few weeks. Based on the reviews we have nothing to worry about.

I am on the same boat!

We wanted to go with the international open bar for 15 per person for 5 hours and because we have 50 guests, that will cost us 3750 just for drinks alone! But just like you said, we have a lot of guests that don't drink, or that maybe will have 1 drink all night long, so we are seriously considering having an open tab throughout the night like some brides suggested. I just don't know if that is something that ends up costing more depending on how large your group is. If anybody knows how much the individual drinks go for and like Jenn asked, water, juice and soda?

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
