Ha!  Well get ready - I'm at 2.5 pages already and haven't really gotten to the wedding details yet!  (photographer, videographer, etc, etc) :)  I know that I craved all the small details too :)

Smith, re: the DJ - are you giving him an idea of a playlist for the evening (or bringing your ipod) or letting him play whatever?  Really curious what he has....

I agree, I 'm also nervous about traveling with a ton of cash too.  The invoice said cash, CC or wire.  Maybe I can pay the balance as a wire and then since I'm doing the menu ala carte and tab bar, pay that in cash that night.  Otherwise im going to divy it up and give my parents and another person a chunk to carry so its not all in one spot

Just thought I'd comment on the payment part :)  I was hesitant to travel with that much cash as well, but it wasn't actually that bad.  DH and I just split it up between us and each carried a money belt on the plane, then put it in the safe as soon as we arrived.  The biggest part of our bill was for the food and booze and we paid that by an american express because you can't charge more than $1000 to visa or mastercard at the JF (we were in the ballpark of $10 000 on AMEX and it was fine!).  You should also be aware that if you travel with more than $10 000 in cash, you'll have to declare that when you enter the country.  We were under that so it was okay, but I'd have hated to have to declare - I can imagine it would be a hassle!

Congrats Mimi and thanks for all the information so far!! Don't know what I'd do without you! It's good to know that we can charge as much as we need to on our AmEx. Did you feel comfortable leaving all of your cash in the safe? We are staying at the ME also and have heard mixed reviews about the resort in general. I'm 100% confident with Jellyfish and Mayte, but am getting worried about some of the recent trip advisor reviews of the Majestic. I'm looking forward to reading your review!

Thanks!  And I'm glad I've been helpful!  I felt totally comfortable leaving the cash in the safe.  I found out near the end of our week that one of our guests' room was broken into.  A few items were stolen, but they weren't locked away in the safe when they probably should have been.  I think everyone kept it from me so i wouldn't feel badly/stress.  Even with that though, I still felt comfortable with the safe.  Just be sure to use it!

As for trip advisor reviews, I had a strict policy to not look at it after we made our resort choice.  We had already made the decision and paid the money and there was no going back and only stress to be had so I avoided it entirely (which was difficult because I'm such a researcher!).  I suggest banning yourself from it right now! :)  You can never please everyone and it's a large resort with lots of guests so some people will surely encounter issues.  And those with negative experiences are more likely to complain!

I agree about reviews on resorts. I stressed about this the most, there are so many reviews on all the resorts, good and bad but after we decided on Majestic Elegance i have not looked again :-) You can't please everyone, people have such different expectations &ideas of what is good/bad, etc. and there will always be negative reviews for any place so try to not stress over it. I could not be happier with ME so far!

Oppps...as far as the DJ play list, I have a list of song & artist for ceremony, first dances etc. I also have a list of must play songs for cocktail hour and the dancing part, otherwise am leaving it up to the dj and guest requests. Mayte said the dj had everything on my list and i have heard good things about the music and dj will accommodate ur style of music etc.

Hi Mimi/ladies - were any of you concerned (or are concerned) about carrying your rings with you? A family member brought up a good point that I probably shouldn't wear it around too often but it also makes me a little nervous to leave it in the safe. It's insured but wasn't sure you all had similar feelings and what you ended up doing or were planning on doing? Did you at any time feel unsafe with them? Staying at the ME as well!

Thanks!

Kaylin

I never gave it a moments thought!  I wear mine all the time (except when applying sunscreen, but i just put them in the lid of the sunscreen so i would be sure to remember to put them back on).  I never felt even a moments hesitation to wear them at the resort and felt perfectly safe!  Do what makes you feel best though!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
