We are getting married at Jellyfish on 2/8/13, and we are staying at the Majestic Elegance.  We were using a TA originally -- she was going to do all the hotel arrangements, but after doing searches online we found we could get a much better deal booking flight/hotel together.  I had also contacted the ME separately to get a quote for room blocks, but I would have needed to be the point person (that is, guests would basically have to book through me, and I'd submit names -- which makes sense if I'm a TA, but I'm not :), and we would have had to pay a 20% deposit right now -- for a wedding 10 months away.  I'm still a little nervous that rooms won't be available for guests who procrastinate, but the best part about a destination wedding is that all our guests are people we talk to on a regular basis, and so it'll be easy enough to contact them with gentle reminders.

Our date is confirmed, we sent our STDs, and my next (fun) to-do is dress shopping!

Also, we created our wedding website with a comprehensive set of FAQs, if anyone is interested in checking it out...feedback is definitely welcome!

I am newly engaged, and much googling my FI and I have decided on the Jellyfish! Can anyone tell me what
e-mail address is best for reaching Mayte? I really want to have our wedding at the Jellyfish, and after reading all the very helpful posts I realise it will be a bit before I probably get a response from her, and with that I want to make sure I'm sending it to the right e-mail address to avoid any further delays in getting a response!!!!

Thanks!

Just wondering what e-mail address is best to use to contact Mayte? I am recently engaged and my FI and I have fallen in love with the Jellyfish Restaurant! We are anxious to get the planning underway, and secure our date for February 2014!!!!

Any info is greatly appreciated :)

Hey Lindsay!

I actually live in Barrie, where Christy is primarily located, and had her do my makeup for an event a few years ago and she was amazing! So I too was sooo happy to see that she is doing weddings in DR! I really hope her 2013 trial season is a success, and does it again in 2014 when I will be getting married in DR!!!

Does anyone know what the table/seating arrangements are? I have seen round and square tables for 8-10 people but do they have other options? Such as tables for less than 8 people? Also, are the wicker looking chairs with a sash included? Thanks!!
I have seen smaller tables in the JF, but we used round tables instead if square for our guests, so the snaller numbers (6 or 7/ table) wouldn't seem so obvious. The wicker chairs are the actual restaurant chairs, so those are included, but I believe the sashes would be in the decor price (we had the wicker chairs with turquoise and lime sashes, super comfy and gorgeous).

Smithk79 - We had 33 people, including us.

LindsayOO - They were no extra charge.  I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's a top that Mayte puts on the square tables...we even made our head table rectangular (put square tables together) so we could all see everyone...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
