I feel like I am so behind and have so much to do!

I asked Mayte the same question about letting my guests pick what they want off the menu giving them a few options. This is her reply....

For the menu, you can leave the menu open and do a la carte you are 23 pax. we can do it.

I really dont understand what that means

Im glad you asked the question about tipping again. I really dont know what to do. Its already expensive, but I dont want to not do whats right!

I think what Mayte means by that is that your group is small enough that they can cook to order... I'm sure over a certain amount they need to be more limited to get all the food out at the same time.  I'm hoping that's what it means... maybe that is why originally she was charging me a lot more... at first we were estimating a lot more people (you know how that goes... everyone says they are going to go in the beginning and then start backing out as it gets closer... we are down more than 20 adults so maybe they can accomodate ala carte for us too now... that's what I really would like...

hopefully someone can give some advice on tipping.. I need to make sure I budget for it appropriately...  One thing I get nervous about is carrying all that cash down...

Just what Venus said. If you have a smaller group, generally ~20 people then it's okay to do a la carte but if you have a higher guest list number then it would just take too long to make all the food. I wanted to do a la carte but our group is too big right now unfortunately.

So I got an email response from Mayte over the weekend, she had a positive response to my updates, however she then asked me questions about things I already had discussed/planned with her! I guess I'm going to have to totally update my original beginning to end list and re-send that! Oh well...

Time is flying!  We are less than 6 weeks now! OMG!

Wow!  Your video was great!  And your reception looked amazing!  I swear, I think I could just tell Mayte to do that in our colours and i'd be thrilled!  I hope you post lots of pics :) Congratulations!!!

Does anyone know what the actual capacity of the restaurant is? We are estimating about 60 people and just wondering if we can still do the dancing inside if we have that many people? Also, to those who have been there..did you find it was really windy?? I went on vimeo and typed in Jellyfish Punta Cana and there are tons of wedding videos on there which is great to get ideas!! But alot of them looked like it was really windy..just wondering! Thanks ladies!

Lindsay,

We did our rehearsal dinner at Jellyfish a month ago and had 72 people at tables of all different sizes (4-8 people per table) and there was still room for our slideshow & projector setup and a "stage area" for people to have give speeches and other "activities" that were part of the dinner (a friend played guitar, we had chairs set up for a "tea ceremony" - my family is Chinese).  I think there should be space for dancing with 60 people.

It was a little windy there, but it felt nice and was not distracting.

It was super windy for us...we had to have Mayte drop the curtain so our wine glasses weren't falling over (which they were when we got there...). It was still great though. I will post my review and pictures soon...thank you all for the kind words...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
