So for now, I will revisit it in April after my RSVPs are in.  I know that my reception will be at the Jellyfish regardless...never second guessed it.  A resort wedding even if it was cheaper wouldn't satisfy my vision so waiting till April isn't a problem for me.  I just wanted to know how much of my budget I really needed to allocate for the reception or if I needed to increase my budget.

So to answer your question... the pricing hasn't changed it's the same as the booklet she sent out.  Your quote changes when you start customizing and adding extras...which I was doing.

I hope that helps :)

Hi Ladies,

This is my first post on this thread. I cant tell you how greatful I am to have found it. My wedding is on July 20,2012

First of all let me begin by letting anyone who was wondering about the Jellyfish DJ and sound manager some information Mayte has given me about him.

His name is John Peguero . He goes by "John PC". He is the resident DJ of "Mangu" night club in Bavaro. He travels to Europe alot and has a Facebook page where you can read up more on him.

Just thought I would share because there have been so many questions about the Jellyfish DJ.

On a different note I was wondering if any past brides have any recommendations for make up artists?Or if any future brides have found someone? Its really stressing me out that there are hardly any make up artists in the Punta Cana area. All the really good ones I have found are about 3 hours away and charge a ton of money. Good make up is so important for pics.

Thank you so much for the DJ info... I'm going to check him out on FB.

I too am looking for a make-up artist.  I'm nervous using the resort one, but it looks like that may be my only option. Please let us know if you find anything out.

The only make-up artist I have found is Indira Sanchez. She's a celebrity make up artist and model. She works in Santo Domingo. She also has a FB page where you can see some of her work and another website where I found some of her work http://www.puffmua.blogspot.com/       http://www.facebook.com/#!/indiramua.

She sent me an e-mail with her prices. Outside of  Santo Domingo for weddings its Bride $200 Bridesmaids and Extras $100 and Hair $75 with a minimum of 5 people.

Her e-mail is indirasanchez10@gmail.com. Hope this helps. If I find out about any other I will let you know.

I just checked her work and it does look great!  BUT $275 for hair and makeup is kind of pricey.

I wish I could get some Great reviews about the make up artists at the resort, but I just haven't :(

Before my sisters wedding, we both got a lesson on how to do our own makeup by a MAC make up artist. We bought the make up and practiced at home for the month before we left. We then did our own make up and honestly, it was great! And I do not wear make up normally...I literally just learned how to put on cover up, eye liner, etc for the wedding. So I am planning to do the same thing for my wedding - gonna get a lesson soon. I highly recommend that!

Hair is a different story :) I need someone for that! lol

I was wondering if any of you could tell me what the cost of your cake and flowers were.  I'm just starting to prepare my budget for my January wedding and I'm getting a little concerned about the extra costs that I can't count on yet.  Also, can you tell me what if there were any other unexpected charges?

Thanks!!

Darcy

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
