Jellyfish Restaurant

Recommended Posts

See... not to make a big deal about $1 dollar... but on the quote I just received a few days ago, she charged me $7 dollars per person for transportation.  I will definitely be asking her about that.

I soooo want to make sure it's clear that I'm not trying to freak anyone out or get anyone worried about pricing.  NOR am I in any way trying to say that the Jellyfish is not being fair.  I just wanted to make sure that my custom choices and the prices that I was quoted for them seemed fair.  That is all. ex,  I was quoted $420 for a cake when all I asked for was a small two tier cake to cut.  I don't want cake for all my guests (I'm having a whole sweet table), I just wanted a cake for my new husband an I to cut... I didn't think I should have to pay $420 for it.

I am still having my wedding at the Jellyfish no matter what.  and if I need to pay more than I expected I will gladly pay it as long as it's accurate and fair.

The last thing I want is everyone emailing Mayte because they are all nervous about their budget.  I am very sure they would never change prices on someone that already had a quote or a pre-invoice.

And lastly I apologize if I caused anyone to worry...

Thanks!

$420 for a cake is definetly based on the amount of guests you have.. just gotta remember that all your communication is by email and there are language barriers.. so make sure you ask more than once on certain issues.. Mayte redid my preinvoice multiple times whenever there would be a change.  A wedding at the Jellyfish isn't as expensive as the resorts when you think about all the hidden costs resorts charge and everything you would have to bring with you (decorations, etc).  You don't have to worry about that at the Jellyfish since they do everything for you.  If you're wanting fire dancers, outside dancefloor, cigar roller, DJ Mania, etc. then you are going to be paying for a  lot of extras and your invoice will rise.

Hello Everyone!

I am getting married at the Jellyfish January 2013.  I am really excited but a little concerned with the communication.  Mayte has gotten back to me but it takes a week or so for her to respond.  I just have some questions as to how people's timelines were.  I know I have lots of time, but I just want to make sure that I am organized and prepared.

I was wondering if anyone can help me with the following questions.

-Did you have to put a down payment to hold the wedding date?

-How far in advance did Mayte require a final head count?

-How far before your wedding date did you get your contract?

-Any other advice/tips you can share?! :)

Thank you so much!

Darcy

Welcome Darcy!  I know responses can be a little slow from Mayte, but as your date gets closer, she will respond faster....

Yes, we did have to put a deposit, it was 10% of our total cost. This is done through a wire transfer, Mayte will send you the information when you are ready...

Our final head count will be sent probably closer to a month before, around the same time as the resort needs all of the same information...

I think we got our invoice from Mayte and made our deposit some time in July or August, but I had been back and forth with her, figuring out what we wanted...(and waiting to get responses...)

My best advice to you is to always go with your gut, it's your wedding, after all!!!

Good Luck!!!

Hey Darcy,

Your DJ will provide you with a microphone. So either you go with the Jellyfish DJ or with DJ Mannia, they both provide this equipment.

Ladies,

I highly recommend DREAMS PALM BEACH for your accommodations!!! This resort is amazing, the food is to die for, the coffee shop was open ALL the time, and the staff are really friendly. And I had no complaints with the rooms either. For all the BRIDES out there, I recommend spending a little more money and getting the Preferred Club rooms. It's soooo worth it. The view, the private service, private restaurant for breakfast/lunch, and checking in ASAP via VIP lounge....sooooo worth it! :)

Hi Venus,

My bouquet was made of Yellow Calla Lillies and it looked exactly like the picture I sent Mayte, only the bouquet looked even more amazing then the picture I sent.

How close to the original pic would my flowers look?

So I'm asking if any past brides that got real flowers for their weddings at the Jellyfish if you could share with me any inspiration pics along with a pic of what your actual bouquet looked like so I can compare?

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
