Mel, do you know if there is a microphone available during the ceremony and is there a charge? I am concerned that people wont be able to hear the ceremony

Has anyone used the Jellyfish DJ?  We are only having 30 or so people at our reception, and we think that DJ Mannia may be a little too much for our group.  We just want someone who will play music and provide a microphone, etc.  Any feedback would be great.  Thanks!

I am going to use the Jellyfish DJ, and I have talked to a few past brides about it - the reviews of him are fine, but most brides provided him either with an Ipod or a list of specific music, which is what I'm doing. Apparently if you send Mayte a list of songs, he will get them all and play them properly, so that sounds good to me! There is also one person in his crew who will do the announcements, so that's great! Not sure when you tell him what to say and when... I imagine you might tell Mayte the day before... I figure it will all work out, haha. DJ Mannia is just WAY too much money for me. And it also seems that if your party goes over time, Mayte doesn't charge extra for her DJ.

That's what I've heard too.  We are using the Jellyfish DJ and I think we will be doing CD's with the "important" songs (our first dance, mother/son, father/daughter, etc.)...Other than that, we aren't too picky about it...it'll be a great party regardless.

Has anybody heard from Mayte lately?  I emailed her the week before Christmas with a few questions and have not heard back.  I know it's the holidays and I am sure she has been busy, but I'm a little concerned.  We need her to get us a pre-invoice so we can get the deposit in!

Thanks so much!  That's kinda what I though was going on.  I haven't sent a second email with my questions, I'll give her a while longer.  Sometimes a little reassurance from people around here helps to calm the already super stressed nerves!  We are just under 6 months now and I don't want to have people give travel deposits until after I give the JF our deposit.  Trying to get the ball rolling!

I just received this informtion from Mayte regarding he sound/mics/ Jellyfish DJ- we are using for our Feb 3 wedding:

The sound and Dj will be there before you and you have available all this services from your guests arrive until you decided to finish your wedding, is not limit time. You have included, 2 micros, the sound for the beach and cocktail hour, sound reception, disco lights and laser ambiental and if you need a MC is included on the quote.

(this seems like a much btter deal than DJMannia)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
