CDNCouple: I also struggled for the longest time as to what to buy my BMs & MoH. I also purchased their dresses and foot ware (cute flip flops from Old Navy!!). So I didn't know what else to get them that was more personal and something I could give them on the day of the wedding....UNTIL I came across this jewelry maker on Etsy.com. Her name is Alison and she is AMAZING to work with. I decided to give my BMs & MoH a matching set of necklaces & earrings in my wedding colors. I just fell in love with the idea of "beach jewelry" and thought it would be so fitting to wear this on the wedding day, and match their dresses, and have as a keepsake after the wedding. Here are a few pics below, I get them in a few weeks, can't wait!! And they weren't expensive at all!!!

If you want to check out Alison's shop, you can find her on Etsy.com at the following link: http://www.etsy.com/shop/BostonSeaglass. Or you can do a search for "beach jewelry" or "bridesmaids jewelry sets" on Etsy and you'll find tons of ideas. =)

I have a question for those of you that are having your ceremony and reception at the Jellyfish what are you doing for the welcome dinner/rehersal dinner?

I am currently set to have my ceremony at Melia and the reception at the Jellyfish, but have been considering doing both at the Jellyfish.  Actually, I pretty much decided that I want to do both at the Jellyfish...but my one concern is that if I'm not doing the wedding at the resort, will the resort still offer "special wedding" treatment?  (welcome dinner, room upgrades, etc...)

Part of the original package for the wedding was a welcome dinner....  does anyone know if it would still be possible to do one even if I no longer have my wedding ceremony at the resort?

Thansk for sharing the tip amount Megs! I also was offered a discount at DJ Mania, but still decided to go with Mayte's DJ. My concern is that I don't want to stop the music if the party is still going nor do I want to pay another $150 for an extra hour :) I just really have to get going on my song lists, roughly how many songs did you have on your lists Megs?

Venus - We are booked at the ME and I contacted the Groups department and even though we are not having our wedding at the resort they are allowing us to have a semi-private dinner in one of their resturants for 35 people. The resort makes their money off of the resort bookings and not really the weddings, in my opinion, so I really pushed the fact that we have over 30 rooms booked and almost 70 people at their resort for our wedding. :) Good luck!

Megs-  Do you mind sharing, or emailing, your song list?! I am torn as to what we should do....If the Jellyfish DJ had a song list, did he still play requestes

Venus909- We are having a welcome cocktail hour one night and a dinner the next at our resort, Majestic Elegance, both will be very informal. We are having both our ceremony and reception at jellyfish. We initally were thinking of staying at Dreams and then we would have had our ceremony at the resort and reception at Jellyfish. We would have qualified for a free ceremony at Dreams

I went with the Jellyfish DJ.  I was worried about his song selection so before we traveled down I put together 2 playlists on my iPod.  The first was for cocktail hour/dinner and the second was for dancing.

After our ceremony, while we were taking pictures with our guests the DJ started playing some chill tropical/loungy music - I wanted more upbeat music so everyone could start partying so I handed him my iPod and told him which playlist to put on.  From that point on he only played my music - I had him switch to the dance playlist after dinner.

Even though he only played from my iPod I would still have made the decision to go with him because I didn't have to worry about the music and the sound setup and lights were awesome.  We didn't have a first dance, garter toss, bridal party so we didn't need a DJ to make any announcements so this was the way to go for us.  If you want an interactive DJ and want to pay a little more then I'm sure DJ Mannia would be the way to go.  Hope that helps

Mel2010,

We tipped Mayte 20%, although I am not sure if and how it get distributed among the staff.

Megs :)

JB, would you mind sharing the contact info for the Group Department at the ME?

I would love to have a more private space for our Welcome Dinner, but didn't realize it was an option.

We are doing both  our ceremony and reception at the Jellyfish so I haven't had too much communication with the ME.

Thank you all for all the info and communications ladies.

Have a great weekend.

Sheri

P.S. Megs is running the Boston Marathon on behalf of the American Liver Foundation's Run for Research Team if anyone wants to show their support.

She has been so incredibly supportive of all of us! (not even sure this is allowed on the site, but it's for a good cause so hopefully) msnwink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
