You have to go to the bank and do a wire transfer. We were charged for it and I read on here that other brides were too. We tried to avoid doing it that way and tried other ways...such as a direct transfer online and I think my fiance tried another way too...but there was no way around it on our end. Print out the information and bring it to your bank and tell them you need to transfer into Mayte's bank account. I requested that Mayte contact me as soon as she received it and that took a few days, but she sent me a confirmation email. Keep a paper trail of everything!!!

I actually lucked out because I have bank of america so I didn't have to do a wire transfer or pay anything, I just directly deposited it into their account.  If you have a bank of american near you, even if you don't have an account.. see about just directly transferring the money into their account and keep all your information and documentation so you have proof you have transferred the money, I emailed Mayte right after I transferred the money.. it took a while for her to reply but she did and I received confirmation.

Hey Ladies,

It's been a while since I've been on here, I had 25 posts to read!! LOL!! Anywho, I noticed one of the brides was asking about how much to tip Mayte. I'm wondering the same thing. Do any of you have a percentage in mind (5%,10%,15%), and do you plan on giving whatever fits your budget ($100, $300, $500)?? I'm on the fence right now as to how much we should budget for Mayte's tip. I know that she is just amazing at what she does, but I wonder if she gets a cut from the restaurant? Or is she totally underpaid for what she's doing for all us brides?? Need your advice on this one.

I can't believe our wedding is in less than 2 months!!! Woohoo!!

Also, for the bride who was asking about makeup and hairstylist - I'm planning on doing my own makeup and using the hairstylist at the salon on our resort. From all the reviews I've read, most of them are pretty good at doing updos, you just need to bring a few pictures of the updo you want.

Oh okay (that was me by the way) lol

I just have REALLY horrible hair to work with so I didn't know how the hairdressers would be down there, I was hoping to have someone take one down with them b/c I'd be more then willing to pay them to do mine too (if they were looking to make more money while they were there that is).

I have my appointment booked at the salon for a trail updo and also for the day of our wedding too (fingers crossed it all goes well!)

Has anyone heard any reviews on Mayte's hair stylest? I saw on the sheet that she sent me a while back that you can book hair dressers and make up artests though her to go directly to your hotel and do it privetly in your own room.

Hi Ladies,

I am in the process of finalizing my wedding plans. We are doing a cocktail hour with appies and I was wondering how many appies people usually plan for? We have 26 guests along with 3 small children. I was thinking maybe 3-4 appies per person? any suggestions?

Thanks for any help!!

lol, when I first looked at this on my phone I thought it said 'apples' and I was wondering what you were doing wih apples, and that 3 to 4 seemed like a lot! haha. I think would do 4 per person, or 4-5; it stinks to run out of things! but then again, you don't want a lot of uneaten food! what appetizers did you decide on?

When I asked Mayte if 4 different types of appetizer platters would be too much for 30+ ppl, she said Yes, that's too much food. LOL. So we went with 3 app platters instead. We chose the following:

Appetizers: Hot pockets (1.50), Mozzarella sticks (1.50) and Butterfly shrimp (2.50)

I figured that cocktail / app hour will only be for 1 hour, and then our guests will move into the restaurant for dinner, so we don't want to feed them too much in 1 hour. If you plan on having a longer cocktail hour, then maybe more food would be the way to go. :)

I agree.  We are doing Seafood in Shots and Chicken Brochette, but the food there is amazing and you really can't go wrong!  We liked the idea/ "funness" of the apetizer being served in a shot glass.  You don't want them to fill up before the meal.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
