Just wanted to let you know that we wire some of the money, paid some of the money in bank checks, and did the rest in cash. Not sure if there was a fee for wiring because my parents did it, I will find out. Hope that helps! Oh and they said we could pay by credit card but then said they couldnt when we got there- so Im not sure what the deal is. Any questions- feel free to PM me!

Thanks for the review adenen16!

I have two questions for you already...lol.

What did you select as your menu options for dinner (other then the lobster you mentioned) and how was the food you selected?

Second question is, did Mayte set up some name cards with a little starfish attached to them? And if so, is this a keepsake for your guests?

Ask any questions you want! We did the lobster, chicken, and pasta. We did caesar salad and capri salad for the starter and rice and vegetables for the sides. For the cocktail hour we did a lot of food- chicken and beef brochettes, mozz sticks, seafood shots, bacon wrapped shrimp, antipasta, The food was AMAZING. Everyone couldnt believe how good it was and was so happy not to eat resort food

Mayte did set up name cards for me. They had a little shell on them and she put the name cards in a sandbox like I asked. She will do ANYTHING though. If you want to do the name cards attached to a big starfish I think you need to bring those down. I brought down little glass starfish to hold the programs on the chairs.

I am so up in the air about it - malaria is from a mosquito, so even though chances aren't high you will get it - it is still kinda scary.  My issue is that I have anxiety - especially with all this wedding planning and the malaria pills are suppose to sometimes give you more anxiety which I DON'T NEED lol!

Ahh - decisions decisions.

Thanks guys!

Hey Natalie,

This may help with your concern:

Countries with Malaria Risk*
in the Top 50 Destinations** among Canadian Travellers
(other than the USA)

Dominican Republic ~ Risk is highest in the provinces bordering Haiti, there is little to no risk in other areas of the country.

Check out this website - I found it very helpful: http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/tmp-pmv/thn-csv/malaria-paludisme-eng.php#rec

I live in Canada and always refer to these sites when traveling and have never gotten Malaria. Just make sure to where a bug repellent spray that has DEET in it and spray it mostly during Dusk and Dawn and you should be OK. Or you could take the Malaria pills too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
