Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica

I am getting married there 09/02/11 and we booked through Easy Escapes Travel.  Our agent has been extremely helpful and her suppliers offer comp rooms as well as a best price guarantee.  This means if the price ever goes down on another supplierâ€s website they will lower your price.  We have put down a deposit to hold rooms for our wedding party until the first of the year which is the deadline for deposits.  And the deposits are $125 per room.

I'm getting married there in August 2011 but am having trouble findind a TA that will actually give us a good price and not screw us over!! it's happened 2 times now... they don't call us back for weeks so we backed out and went to another one who we gave a deposit to and said go ahead, everything was go to go and now that we have our invites out with info on them she comes back to tell us that the "tour operator" doesn't have any more rooms to give out in AUGUST!?!?!

I was hoping to get some information from other gran bahia brides. I went too book my trip and wedding and my travel agent said for me to buy the sunhine package I have to have 10 people in my group book with me. Most of my family is booking later or last minute since they don't have a lot of money. Can me and my fiance book us two and still buy the sunshine package with out having any one book with us? I left the office last night almost in tears because I don't want to make my family pay more then they have too PLEASE HELP ME

I honestly thought DTW were easier and my agent seems to be not listening to me

FleetMac - I don't think it's a big deal which wedding package you go with or how many people are going with you...  I think the bigger issue that the TA is talking about is that most tour providers require a min of 10 people to provide group rates for the trip.  We booked through a TA and our tour provider is Air Canada Vacations.  They gave us a price, but it was dependant on at least 10 others booking...  But, I would think that you should be able to just book for you and FI, and forgo the group rates if you don't think others will book by the cut-off date.  Then they can all just book later at the same resort provided there is room there?  I would talk to your travel agent again to clarify, cause I really don't think it matters with the resort how many people are attending your wedding and which wedding package you choose.

hi everyone, I am brand new to the site and it seems already that there is a lot of good information. I am also planning a wedding at gran bahia principe in Jamaica in Nov 2011.  I want to have the ceremony at the gazebo, but I also wanted to see if I could have the reception outdoor. My problem is that I have not been able to get any pictures from the resort as to what that setup would look like. Does anyone have any wedding pictures that they can share for this resort ? even pictures of the reception indoor would help as well.  The resort also told me that it would cost $2000 to block off the entire restaurant to have a private reception. Please help ? thanks !

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
