Getting Maui'ed!

Oh wow!!!!  That's wonderful, I am jealous!!!  I wish I lived there!!!  I do have a few questions for you.  My fiance and I are getting married in Maui next January.  We think that we have finally chosen our ceremony and reception sites.  We think that we want to have the ceremony at Marriott Wailea and our reception at Mala Wailea. I have been to the Mala in Lahaina but never to the one in Wailea.  Have you been there?

I am also unsure if I should encourage my guests to stay in Ka'anapali (an area I'm familiar with) or in Wailea (an area I've never been to but where I am having the wedding.)  What would you say are the positives and negatives of both?  Hope I didn't overwhelm you with questions.  Thank you sooo much!

Hello,

I have not been to that one but the owner and chef owns Maui Taco's and they are my favorite ; ) I would have your guests stay in Wailea..I prefer it over Ka'anapali. There is alot to do on the Kihei/Wailea side of the island. Also in Jan you have less of a chance of rain on the Wailea side. The properties in Wailea are very nice..and if you can afford it stay at  the Grand Wailea..the pool and hotel are the best I have seen in the world. Also make sure while you are there to go to Mama's Fish House for dinner..maybe do your Welcome dinner there..it is beautiful and the food is to die for : ) They also do weddings and are right on the beach..Let me know if you think of any other questions..I'm happy to help

Larisa~ I have stayed at the Marriott and it is sooo beautiful!  We loved it there, however we are getting married at the Grand Wailea.  The Marriott didn't have a good website advertising weddings.  I didn't know they did them.  But you will definitely be happy with your stay there.

Choeft~ Any suggestions on what my guest could do for a day in Wailea?  We have some peeps doing the road to Hana and the 7 sacred pools, what else should not be missed that doesn't get noted?!!

Thanks for sending the info!!!  I LOVE Mama's Fish House!!!  I had my engagement dinner there :)  I like the idea of staying in Wailea but the majority of my guests are looking into condo's and not really hotels.  The Grand Wailea does look gorgeous and I will hopefully get a chance to check it out during my site visit in May.  Do you know of any condo's in Wailea?  Ones that are preferably on the water and close to activities?

Cost wise you are better off having them stay at condos in Kihei. Condos in Wailea are not cheap and Kihei  has more to do. The only condo I know of that is pretty cheap and on the beach is on the far end of Kihei..my parents have a condo there..is Menheune Shores but you might want to stay closer to the Wailea side.

Hello,

We are getting married in Haiku at a private estate in April 2012.  I am looking for several things, since you used to live there, I thought you could help! I would love to have large draft wood with purple orchids on them.  Also, do you know where I can rent cheap chandeliers to hang in the ceremony?

Who would you recommend for the following...

I am also looking for a great make up and hair stylist?

Wedding cake (already have a caterer)

Florist? that isn't too expensive

Vans (we have 60 guests and we would like to bus them from Lahiana to Haiku)

Thanks for your help!

Haiku is really beautiful.  The north shore of Maui is def our fave place.  We often frequent Baldwin Beach or Pai'a.  (+ we love going into Mana foods after the beach!)

There are some charter bus rental companies on Maui.

For flowers in Haiku:

Aloha all! I am also geting Maui'd next year (October) and would really love some advice... I'm going a bit loopy as I've been addicted to browsing and contacting many different coordinators and caterers. There's just soooo and although I've used this site to get awesome suggestions and reviews, I'm ffinding that with sooo many options I'm really getting varied pricing, response times, etc. I'm trying to do the wedding on a budget as I'm from Canada and our dollar is dropping :( So I guess I'm asking if anyone can tell me if there's a price break when you book the caterer yourself? Do coordinators get better rates? Or should I just try to book all vendors on my own? I've spoken with a few nice coordinators, but I can't tell who's best, or if I'm being ripped off... I also don't know how necassary a coordinator is for the cocktail hour/reception since the caterers will be there?  Any advice would be much appreciated for this slightly overwhelmed bride!  I know I have lots of time to get organized, but once I get the important stuff booked I think I'll be much more relaxed ;)

I'm not sure what type of wedding you are looking to have there but I have a few favorite places that I would have mine there..If you don't mind spending $$$$ Grand Wailea would be my 1st choice. Another beautiful and more private option is Mama's Fish House. They both have websites. Let me know if I can help at all. I'll be there in December and again in March if you want me to check out a place for you

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
