RIU ROR Package question

Recommended Posts

Please somebody help me!!!!! Chandelle is not emailing me back! I am getting married in June and currently have 36 guest booked. I signed up for the "free package". According to the description on the RIU weddings ws, it says the free package includes a reception dinner for up to 20 guests or less. This was copied from the ws:

RIU Free Wedding Package 2011 includes:

* On-site wedding coordinator to help plan the special day

* Decoration set up for the ceremony location

* Bridal Bouquet

* Matching boutonniere for the groom

* CD or recorded music during the ceremony

* Semi private dinner for the couple and wedding guests at one of our specialty restaurants

* Wedding cake for the couple and 20 wedding guests or less

* Sparkling wine for the couple and 20 wedding guests or less (during the main toast only)

* Special decoration in the room

* Witnesses if required

What should I dohuh.gifhuh.gif Will I still receive a reception dinner for my 36 guests or will I have to pay extra nowhuh.gifhuh.gif?

  • 2 weeks later...

Really bothers me how they offer this "free" package...yet it costs 350 USD and doesnt include the minister fees, legal documents and "other" fees....whas so free about it? Back last March we booked the royal package....but I guess Ill down grade to the "free" package now.....and upgrade the cake and wine to accommodate 36 of us....

Does anyone know how they upgrades work ? And also-anyone know how much these other fees are and how much the minister, legals stuff is? Be helpful to see the hidden fees.....

This is so helpful. I just send my request to see if the date I want is available. I also chose the free package and put 30 guests. I'm sure I may have more so I wanted to make sure I would be able to upgrade if needed. Thanks so much for the help.

I am getting married in just a few weeks and looked into the Free Package vs. the Royal Package. We also have 36 guests booked. The Free Package does not include minister fees, wedding certificate fees, etc. It clearly states that on the Riu wedding webpage (see below). I have no idea what they would charge for minister fees and legal documentation so we went with the Royal Package. It just seems easier to me to let them do all of that for you. I would also think they would make you pay a price per head for the extra 16 people for dinner and who knows what that would cost. The Royal Package says it serves dinner for 40. Let me know if you find out anything different. I would rather pay just $350 versus $1,245 and upgrade if it is more cost-effective.

The Free Package 2010 at the Riu Ocho Rios includes:

* On-site wedding coordinator to help plan the special day

* Decoration set up for the ceremony location

* Bridal Bouquet and matching boutonniere for the groom

* CD or recorded music during the ceremony

* Semi private dinner for the wedding group at one of our specialty restaurants

* Wedding cake for 20 people

* Sparkling wine for 20 people (during the main toast only)

* Surprise spa gift

* Ten percent discount on all spa services for bride and groom

* MINISTER OR JUDGE SERVICE, LEGAL DOCUMENTATION & FEES ARE NOT INCLUDED.

The minister fees for me were $350 but it states $375 somewhere I thought. You can do the free package and upgrade as well. The recption dinner is included with the free package for all of your guest. Additional money is for champagne and the larger cake I think.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
