It was funny, when they brought us a new shuttle van, we ALL put our seat belts on. And then laughed about it. (ps, it totally sucks to get in an accident in Mexico... we waited for about two hours in the dark... from 11pm to 1am...).
But when I got picked up from the resort to go home the next day (yes, that's right... booo). Anyway, when I got picked up I immediately buckled up and everyone looked at me like i was NUTS!!! i had to explain the story to them, at which point they too buckled up.

I also would like to add that most other countries, the van / shuttle drivers drive crazy.. and I mean out of control crazy, so a seat belt is always a good thing. :-)

        That is a good reminder!

And as I said in another post, there are thousand of transfer companies....some reliable others much less....that is why you also have diference in pricing! .....and many "cheap" companies subrent their vans and will put you in some without insurance. Believe it or not very few companies own more than 4 vans total in Cancun and Riviera Maya....many are just a third party renting from whoever.
