There are probably 2 different 'groups' of photographers. Those who shoot destination weddings as a business and those who like to take a trip or two every year, have the trip paid for and make a couple hundred bucks while they are there.

The first group is probably better prepared to work for you. they know the area, the people, the language, awesome locations and secret spots. This is of added value to you and will ultimately result in better photos. If photography is important to you...and why would it not be, it's all you will have in a year, 10 years, 20 years then the question is not 'what are others paying' it should be 'what are YOU willing to pay' for a photographer that is going to rock your world. Because photography is so subjective you should find one that fits your style best. Classic and traditional? Edgy? Creative?

Ask yourself this...

If a photographer who normally charges $3000-6000 for local weddings, WHY are they offering coverage to you for $500 or $1000? What are you missing out on?

Good luck!!

We are around $5,500+ travel, but figured that this is both on our priority list so it wasn't too shocking. It's really important to have a good connection with the photographer, and once you find a strong one, it's hard to go back. Big chunk of money, but it's pretty much the only thing you WILL have from your wedding in 50 years.

It is definitely more than I was planning to spend but it looks like photographer will be about $1800 (5 hrs) and videographer will be $700 (2 hrs). The videographer's additional charges are $150/hr after the initial two hours are up so we might ask him to stay since we want video of the party rather than everyone eating :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
