The official P90X Support Group!

Recommended Posts

Today is yoga day for me. It's not my favorite so hopefully I can get through it. I have a friend doing it with me today so that should help. Of course once we are done we are making cake balls to take to work tomorrow (and Im sure we will sample a few along the way) :-)

I'm excited to see what the results will be after 3 months. I'm not following the diet and using all the recipes right now. I'm just trying to watch what I eat. I have a puppy that I have to walk/run every night too so I figure I'm doing pretty good for burning calories on a daily basis.

I'm doing it to get in shape for wedding dress shopping and the summer. My FI is doing it with me so it's great to have that support. I can't do a chin-up if my life depended on it. I seriously just hung there and tilted my head back. It made me feel like I moved up a bit. LMAO

Questions...

1) Are you doing the lean or classic program? We're doing the classic program.
2) Are you tracking your exercises (how many reps you can do) and your inches? I was thinking I might measure inches since I will be building muscle and I might not see my weight fall very quickly. I usually go by my clothes anyway. It keeps me motivated if my clothes fit better!

Thanks!

Tara
Hey Tara
Welcome to the group :), I am also doing the classic program - I'm tooo busy to do lean. I don't have a scale so I haven't really been watching my weight but I honestly was hoping to tone and not really looking to lose weight. I also didn't write down my reps, I probably should have - my FI did. I know I which weights I always use and I just try to make sure I'm pushing it so that the last 3 reps are hard. BUT - I think it would have been a good idea to start doing it from day 1. If I were you I would write it down. Hope you're still liking it - I'm finding it hard to keep up with lately (I have a big exam in 2 weeks and I'm 3 weeks away from leaving for Cuba!!). I'm going to try to do as many of the work outs as I can in the next few weeks but it's gonna be tough....On that note I guess I should start Yoga now..good times.

Keep up the good work everyone :)

I did legs and back today...well just legs really. I dont have a pullup bar or anything to hook my resistance bands so I just did bicep curls. So frustrating. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to hook it on that is highhuh.gif Im a physical therapist and I give my patients resistance bands all the time..I just never thought about how they attach them high!

Im just picking and choosing what dvds I want to do. I love to run and go the gym and dont want to give either of those up. Im also training for the chicago half marathon.

Do you have dumbbells? You could try doing some bent over rows instead...those are supposed to help work your back out.

Mhabas, I am not sure if you have stairs or what your stairwell looks like, so this may not work for you, but our stairwell is open and it curves. I hook the bands around the post up where it curves and it gives me awesome resistance. If there are open posts on your stairwell, you could try putting the bands around one of the higher posts.

I was on here a while back stating that I had already done the 90 day lean program and was starting the 90 day classic. Well the classic didn't work out for me so well so I went back to the lean. I have some injuries and it made it difficult to do all of the exercises. Since I had great results with the lean (15lbs) I figured I would go back to it.

So, I started it, but something always seemed to come up. Birthday parties, work parties, etc. It seemed like I could never find the time to get through it. It was frustrating because I had already gone through it once before! I gained back ALL 15 lbs and even gained a pound. That isn't because I stopped P90x...it is because I started eating bad again. I was freaking out! Everyone kept saying "oh don't worry about it, when I got married I lost all this weight by doing nothing at all". I wanted to hurt those people! I was gaining weight with stress, not losing it!!!!

Well I am here now to tell you that I am 5 days before I leave for my wedding and I have lost 5 lbs in just this week alone. I have lost a total of 20lbs!!! So not only am I below my goal, but I keep dropping. I love P90x, I do it maybe 3 times a week now. It keeps me motivated! The problem is I have no appetite. I'm so freaked out about what is going to happen when I get to the resort and that everyone will arrive safely and I won't forget anything that I forget to eat. I know it sound ridiculous, but it is true. You guys will see. I just wanted to give you a little emotional support and tell you to keep at P90X, it is amazing! It seriously changed my life. I say that because it not only taught me the right way to exercise (when I do) but it taught me that eating healthy isn't a bad thing. I actually go to restaurants and look for healthier options now...not because I think I should, but because I think it will taste good! It will get you where you need to be, but if you can't shed those last few pounds don't sweat it, you will! I am amazed at how right those people were.

Mhabas-I finally bought a pull-up bar that fits in the door frame, but before that I was wrapping my resistance bands around the column that seperate my kitchen bar and doorway. I don't know if that makes any sense, but it's basically just a small section of dry wall that I wrapped it around.

We did P90X classic with the diet recommendations for our wedding last year and everyone commented on how great we looked! It is worth it and gets better as you go along! I am now getting back on the wagon and starting it again because I miss looking buff and in shape. Thanks for the motivation girls!

How's everyone doing? I'm in the middle of Week 7...something is wrong with one of my wrists and it hurts to put weight on them. I had to skip through a bunch of push-ups in chest, triceps, and shoulders because if it, so I'm pretty bummed. Hopefully my wrist will get better soon!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
