Does anyone not feel pretty in their dress after their fitting?

Recommended Posts

Wow, thanks everyone! That makes me feel so much better that I am not the only one who has gone through this. I thought I was being super picky. It gives me hope yet. I think everyone is right about the tanning, hair done, makeup etc. Maybe I went in on a "not feeling great about myself" kinda day. All your comments are extremely helpful. Thank you!

Honestly I went through the same thing but in my case I was never really in love with the first dress I got. I had to get it because the store would not refund my money. Being completely honest I did get a new dress 6 weeks before my wedding but ONLY because it suited my personality much better. The way you speak about your dress Im completely sure that you will love it once everything comes together. Remember once you do your hair and get all the accessories in place it will totally complete the look :)!

Me too! I didn't love it at all after my alterations...i had her even undo some because my Chest Fat was bludging...and i don't have chest fat! it was so bad. i left unhappy even though she fixed it. but a few days later when i got my make up done at Mac and i had my new earrings i tried the dress on and fell in love again!

not to worry, just a moment of no-love! it'll come back :)

I feel the same way about my dress right now too sad.gif And to make it worse, I had to go shopping w/o my mom b/c she was in the hospital so she just saw it for the first time 2 weeks ago when she flew out to see me. I think it will be okay though.... I got a veil and some shoes while my mom was here so I feel a little better about it. Anyways, I've already spent the money so I'm a little commited at this point. I just try to remember how much I loved it when I bought it, and I'm sure it will come together for the wedding.

Tuck it away in a closet for a little while and remind yourself how much you loved it in the beginning!

Aw I'm sorry you feel like that Crystal. I feel the same way. Long story short- the salons Pronovias sizing chart is off (how and why, I have no idea) so the dress doesn't zip up all the way. 2 options, I could order a new one, and hope and pray it gets here in time (not an option in my book) or just get it let out. I'm going for a 3rd option- get to my goal weight- then see what happens! I too have not told FI my panic feelings after the $$ we spent on the dress!

Best of luck- good advice above to put on full makeup and shoes next time you try it. I'll do the same!

I went to try on dresses for the first time last Saturday...I thought I was going to feel all pritty and like a princess. But instead I felt over weight, with bad hair and ugly tattoos...Even tho I am not over weight and I love my tattoo's lol..

I think it was because I went to a specailty store where they have 1 dress in one size. Nothing was ment for my body..

When i left I was thinking that I finally understand why people get married in Jeans. I looked a lot better in the clothing I arrived in.

  • 2 weeks later...

I feel the same way!! I ordered my dress online and when it arrived I was upset that it didn't fit perfectly -- It was WAY too big, and I thought I looked massive -- and I'm only 5'2, 110 pounds -- IT WAS JUST WAYYYY TOO MUCH FABRIC! I floated in it. I was devestated. But I dropped it off at a seamstress yesterday and she knew exactly what needed to be fixed. I am excited for a month when I can go try it on.

Don't worry - I agree with the other brides that the whole look will come together on the day (or trial day) and we'll remember why we loved the dress! :)

My dress just came in Thursday, I went for the first fitting and I was so sad when I left. I ordered a size up and the dress was boxy and gave me no shape. The dress is very simple , I had forgotten how simple it is. The flower I had purchased for my hair looked too yellow against the dress and my earrings & braclet did go. I'm feeling like I made a mistake and ordered the dress bc of price and felt like at the time it was the only one that fit well.

Trying to keep my chin up and hopefully it will look better after fitting. Now I have to start from scratch with accesories sad.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
