Where did you get your place cards/escort cards?

Recommended Posts

I'm having a surprisingly hard time choosing a good place to get reception place cards from. I've found a few websites that have them but not any that stand out. I'm having 100+ guests so I am trying to minimize the work that needs to go into each one.

Originally I was ruling out any that you had to print out yourself because I was thinking that cardstock wouldn't be able to go thru my inkjet printer very well...but has anyone been able to do this without a problem?

I found a couple sites that will print them out for you if you send them a list in Excel:

Place Cards - Personalized with your guests' names

standard tented escort card, custom escort card, custom place cards

This one has some designs on them and for an extra charge they will print them out for you:

Place Cards

I was hoping that I could use Vistaprint so that I could upload our monogram onto each one, but it turned out they don't have any cards that are small enough to be escort cards.

Some websites had some place cards with cute designs, but you have to write in the names and tables by hand, and I have terrible hand-writing!

Okay funny enough I haven't heard of escort cards before this morning and now I've got through a few separate threads about them! Are they just the same thing as place cards??

But to answer your question about card stock and inkjet printers, you should be okay to use them! I printed all my invites on cardstock and it seemed to work just fine! Because they are fed through more slowly than a laser printer/copier the paper doesn't seem to jam as easily. Sometimes I would print a group of pages (say 10) then let my printer sit for a few seconds before sending off the next group to print. This helped keep the quality consistent as sometimes when you're running a large number of pages through the ink doesn't quite seem to keep up and just needs a few extra seconds to get back to full strength. The easiest way to do this was in your print menu instead of selecting 100 copies, select 10 copies and hit okay 10 times. Then you're not stuck sitting there the entire time hitting 'ok'.

I never heard of escort cards until recently either...apparently they're the same thing as place cards.

That's good to know that my printer can probably handle the cardstock printing. Definitely gives me more options!

Melindel, those calligraphy place cards are pretty and a lot cheaper than I would have expected.

Oh yeah, you are right. I am planning on having these cards set up for the guests to take with them to their assigned table, and they can sit where ever they want at the table. It will have their food choice on it so if they bring it to their seat it will make it easier for the servers.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
