Hi girls! I am newly engaged and was looking into the Bahamas to have my wedding. I would like to find a nice all inclusive resort so that my guests can save some money. Does anyone know of a nice all-inclusive resort.. that could also be a really nice venue for a wedding?

Any help would be great!

Hi, I am getting married in the bahamas in november of this year.

When I started looking for AI Resort, the only ones were:

- Breezes: My travel agent told me this is a party resort. it is 14yrs and up, and all the reviews say the same thing, plus the decor is out dateddrum.gifrockon.gif

- Riu Paradise Island: all ages welcome, just had a full reno in october 2009. saw pictures and it is beautiful. very quiet. so we booked with the Riu (which is now a 5 star) for a great price ($1600/person for a week). And it is right beside Atlantis so you can go check that out whenever with out paying the hefty price of staying there.

- the Sandals resort opening soon at this point. but if you want to save money for your guests, the Sandals resort is not the way to go. It is super expensive, like $4000/person a week. ouch!.smile41.gif

But you never know what your travel agent can find out and get for you.

I hope that has helped.

Good luck!

Do not stay at Sandals Grand Bahamian. We just got back from there for our honeymoon and it was AWFUL!!! I plan on writing anyone I can to let them know how displeased we were. Here is a few things.

a) We asked for an ocean view and ended up overlooking a parking lot. We COULD NOT see the ocean at all. They said they could give us new room the next day at 1 o clock. We sat there until 3:00 before we finally got a new room. We talked to a minimum of 10 other guests who said they did the same thing to them. We started calling these rooms the "holding rooms" because is is clear this is where they put the guests until the room they PAID for becomes available.

These holding rooms all had issues. The bath faucet broke and water went squirting into the air, the sink faucet had no screen so it would hit you in the crotch when you turned it on. The balcony wasn't big enough for the 2 of us to sit on. They told us that it was an "upgrade" from what we paid for. Upgrade? A view of a pink building, chain link fence, and parking lot with a balcony we could stand on and upgrade from our $500.00 a night room? Really? All the other people who had these holding rooms complained of the same things.. that includes the faucet squirting into the air in at least 2 of the other rooms.

B) Every other day the water would start off brown and then turn clear.

c) Every now and then when you were on the beach you got smell of what seemed like sewage. One day it rained all day and we were taking showers and the water was that smell. It was like we were bathing in sewage.

d) Once we did get our new room the smell of cigarettes was like a slap in the face it smelt so bad

e) They are suppose to stock the fridge everyday. The only time they would stick it is when we asked for them to stock it. The drinks in the fridge were usually warm and it took a day for them to get cold.

f) Restaurants have limited things on the menu and we ran out of things to eat. The best dinner was the salad bar at casa nova.

g) Baccarat which is there best restaurant was booked for the whole week we were there. Why? They keep it open for the guests that pay for butler service. If you do not have butler service they tell you they are booked. This was proven when we had someone we met call with butler service, they got the reservation we did not.

h) Beach is SMALL, maybe 75 yards, resort is SMALL there isn't much to do at all. We were bored most of the time

I) people do not come around with drinks or take orders for drinks. If you want a drink you have to go to the bar

j) My safe stopped working 3 times in 7 days so I had to keep calling security

k) There are not many chairs at all. Whether the people who paid for butler service or not want chairs they are reserved for them until 10 o clock. Sometimes the reservation would sit there all day.

We talked to many other people who all had complaints about the resort. The people were nice but other than that I have nothing good to say about this resort.

I'm sorry too Maureen. We actually met some travel agents while we were out there and they both said everyone they talk to was complaining about something. I don't sweat the small things but I want what I paid for and when you don't get the room you pay for it's unacceptable. After that the little things just started adding up.

We booked:
Sandals Royal Bahamian 6 nights– 1 Windsor Grande Luxe Ocean View Room
All rooms have king bedding

Even if it was only one night with the wrong room, they should have offered us something for the trouble. Instead they told us we were staying in a Junior suite which was an upgrade from what we paid for... Essentially we wasted a whole afternoon waiting to get the room we paid for. There is much more to complain about but I just highlighted the big ones.

There are also a few others. Viva Wyndham on Grand Bahama is all-inclusive, affordable and family friendly but I have read mixed reviews on it. Wyndham Nassua Resort at Cable Beach sometimes offers an "all-inclusive package" as a special add-on to your stay as a promotional thing, its not always available (only certain restaurants apply to package) and Our Lucaya in Freeport also offers an "all-inclusive" add on (also with only certain restuarants to chose from). All three allow children if that is a consideration for you. And for affordability, Our Lucaya is like three resorts on one property and can fit into most budgets.

I stayed at the Viva Wyndham with my mom and niece about 2 years ago. It was an okay resort at best, it was my first foray into AI and it seemed good, my mom and niece (about 9 or 10 at the time) thought it was great. I have since stayed at much nicer resorts and personally wouldn't consider it for my DW location, however for a cheap 4-5 day vacay its not bad. I do remember seeing a few weddings while there though.

The best thing about it was it had trapeze and they had open time (with the pros) where guests could attempt to fly thru the air. I am not the most coordinated but I did it and it was fun.

I stayed at the Wyndham at Grand Bahama in March and April of this year....would not recommend it for a wedding or honeymoon. Food is awful and cool at best. Otherwise the beach is nice and rooms clean but some staff are nice while others just look pissed to help you. I say it's ok for family getaway but not wedding...Good luck!

Yeah, Viva Wyndham was one of the first AI in the Bahamas that I came across when looking to relocate my wedding and luckily my TA said she advised against it cause she had heard a mix of bad and good, more bad. Then I found Our Lucaya and she raved about that. So, I am definitely not recommending the Viva, just listed it on my first post to put it out there since it is an AI and I thought the poster might like a complete list :)

Ok, I'm in panic mode. I have booked Royal Bahamian for our wedding & plated dinner/3 hour reception. I thought that Sandals was supposed to be luxury? What all inclusive would you recommend? What month were you there???

I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
