Just a reminder about TAs and group benefits. Your travel agent should be able to arrang the same benefits through the wedding sales department. I will admit that we had to fight to have then combine the groups (we had some guest booking under my aunts membership). In the end they agreed but we were so frustrated that we told all of our guest to book under the TA and not my aunts membership.

Our planning process has been so stress free since we made that decision. Neither we nor our guest have to deal with Miami at all. My TA has handled everything with booking and travel. I was also happy that round trip transfers were included with the room stay. If your guest book with the resort they pay extra for tranfers unless they are staying for 7 days or more. They still get the palace resort credits.

I am sooooooo glad we did this. Our TA has confirmed our free events with the resort and we were copied on the email. AND here is the best part, she issued the refund for our comp nights!!!! smile123.gifYes ladies you heard right. We leave in one week and we have ALREADY RECEIVED THE REFUND FOR OUR COMP NIGHTS. I have heard of so many girls having to wait weeks and months after the wedding to receive their refund from Miami but my TA has already refunded us.

I say all of that to say, you may want to double check with your TA to see if they can negotiate the same promotions with group sales department. It may really be worth your while.

BTW: when my TA was handling guest that at the time were going to book under my aunts membership, FI and I decided that would give her a gift or tip for the hassle. Fortunately we were able to do everything with her so she is getting credit for all rooms. I think a gift may still be in order.

Thanks Mocha, great idea. I am def going to ask about it. I just assumed those guests will go into our friends rooms to freshen up but a hospitality suite is much better. So when your guests with wedding pass arrive they just provide their name to the gate and then they check in the front desk? I am paying for everyone's wedding passes so I wanted to know what to tell them to do. They get to use the resort like eat/play like any guest during that guest pass window right?

With that many people off site are you requesting a hospitality suite for them to refresh? We had one during our wedding reception so that guests wouldn't have to go all the way back to their rooms.

I have an awesome TA too and her rates actually came in lower than the MP! I found her through BDW and she's been great. I got my refund for my deposit a week after the final payment was due. My TA was Teresa Stauring from Vacations 4 Less, she treats you like you're the only client even though she's super busy.

Hey so did you not pay your final payment? Or did you not have a final payment??

I am really hoping we get refunded before we go - that would be wonderful. My TA said it has happened to her but she can't get it in writing from them yet!

SummerDawn, well my whole trip was comped since I made 75+ nights so when I say final payment, I mean final payment my guests made on their trip. They got to pay for their trip in 3 installments. I had requested a hold on 30 rooms for my wedding guests and had to put a deposit for each room and she let me apply the same deposit to my reservation in case I didn't meet my 75 nights. Good thing I did b/c I got my refund back, an upgraded room and unlimited private events.

My TA is Jenny Brahm with Escapes Unlimited. I will post her number later. There was no deposit required to hold the rooms for our group. I am glad she did not require a deposit to hold rooms because about 35% of our guest flaked out.

About a month after FI and I decided to pay for our room because we were not sure that we would have enough room nights to qualify for any promotions and we wanted that cost out of the way. In the end we did qualify for the comp nights so she issued us a refund.

We were told our wedding party could cut them off and keep them with no charge.  I cut mine off and didn't have a problem when we met up with people later on in the evening.

Wow, I am definetly going to check with my TA about getting my comp nights refunded before we leave!  My TA told me and like other brides have said that it can take weeks after you return.  I'll definetly check it out.

Thanks

My groups final payment is due on May 22nd and my wedding isn't until July.  This should give them plenty of time to refund me back for my nights.

BTW, me and the FI want to leave MP the day after our wedding and go to another Palace resort, namely Le Blanc.  Has anyone else done this and did they consider the nights at the other hotel as comp nights?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
