    Keshia,

No, I did request info from Ivan, but he is booked for the day of my wedding.  I am booking Octavio Montes.  He seems so nice and was so responsive and very reasonably priced.  I also received prices from a few others if anyone else is interested I can email you the information.

Jennw818:  Did you decide on Ivan Luckie? He is wonderful to work with! :)

That is a fantastic idea! I'm sure you're guest will really appreciate that.  I know I would!

We are using Danielle Davis. She is AMAZING! And prices are very affordable. One thing that we are offering to our guests are "mini session" this includes a 1 hour session with our photographer the day after the wedding for families/couples to get their pictures done on the beach. She will edit the photos and send everyone the rights and a CD with the images for only 100.00. This has been a HUGE hit because everyone wants family pictures while they are down there and this is extremely affordable.

I'm sorry this happened to you.  I haven't had anyone back out yet and I'm hoping they don't.  I do agree that once you break it down for food, drinks, and the fact that it's a vacation Moon Palace isn't really more expensive than other weddings.  I know I spent $1000+ being in a wedding between shoes, dress, hair, make up, and going to her bach party in Vegas.  I hope for your sanity that they change their minds!!

anyways in the past month, i've had two BMs back out on me because it's "too expensive" for them. The second being just this morning. I'm so incredibly sad, I just cannot picture my day without them. I don't know what to do and I can't help but think there are still more than 9 months to go!!! there is plenty of time to save!!! but what do I know, I don't know their budgets or if they have left over to save. neither of them have the most stable job on the universe... im just heartbroken and don't have the heart to even debate anything with them...i mean, i don't feel right doing so...but at the same time i feel like writing--look, you have x amount of months, just put away x amount of dollars to save, etc etc... Now FH has 9 ushers and I have 6. @&#$!($^&

        help me feel better please

The other option that your bridal party has is to only stay for 3 - 4 nights if they can't afford a whole week.

There are rooms with "obstructed views" in the Nizuc section that are a bit cheaper as well. I would see if they are able to afford any of those.  I had 2 of my bridesmaids do that and then they used their $1500 to upgrade since our group was all staying in the sunrise section.

Or maybe for your MH, if she cannot afford it, try to see if you can fit it in your budget to pay for her stay or a few nights so it isn't as much on her.  I would have cut all of my extras if it meant paying for one of my sisters as I couldn't have been happy that day without them there.

Thanks, that a good idea.  I will definitely do everything I can to have her there.

                Hey Ladies,

So has anyone already gotten any frantic emails and phone calls about how dangerous Mexico is? I am already annoyed. Seriously, its dangerous everywhere! I guess since that lead investigator in the murder case got beheaded, my guests are starting to panic. My wedding is not till next May, I think it will be ok:-) Alright done venting!

So ladies using outside photogs? How are you telling the resort? I think I am going to book a night's stay for my photog and just forget the day pass b/c it might be easier for him to get on the resort. What do you girls think?

thanks so much for the support and encouragement... I am sure they will definitely be a part of anything I do back home (which is NJ, and I"m in NM)... so I do hope to have them be a part of this process with me even though they can't be there physically

Aww...I'm so sorry.  It is so hard because of course you want all the important people in your life there.  On one hand, you did give more than enough notice.  On the other hand, it is expensive and some people just can't afford it.  If she is one of your closest friends, I'm sure she put a lot of thought into how she could make it work and it must have been hard for her to tell you she can't go.  She can still be a part of your wedding by helping you plan, shop etc.  Are you having anything at home before or after the wedding?

I had one BM drop out so far.  My sister is my MOH, but a very unrelialbe person.  Despite having over a year to plan for this expense, I can really see her not showing up.  My FI has not asked any guys to be in the wedding yet.  He wants to wait to see which of his friends are going so he doesn't make the feel obligated.  It's a good chance that I will wind up with 4 out of 6 BM with his 1 GM.

Everything will work out.  I think the important part to remember is that all of this is about the two of you.  After your big day is over, all you will remember is how happy and beautiful everything was.

Thanks Kim for the kind words ..they both did say how hard of a decision it was and how they cried and cried while writing me... so i know they did their best. I am starting to prepare myself emotionally for more people not being able to go...and I am also doing what I can to make sure my two brothers are there...that has to become my top priority....

I am so sorry to hear you're so upset. I was also worried about this issue too when I decided on a destination wedding. But I told myself that the most important thing is I am getting married to the love of my life and whoever can come with come and if they don't, then so be it. I know it's hard since they are your very best friends and I am sure you put alot of thought into asking them and you're hurt but money is a logical excuse. But like you said you're giving them plenty of time. I keep emphasizing to my guests how they don't have to pay all at once and they can spread out their payments. I already have had alot of remarks about how expensive this is but I am like if you break it down for food, accomodations, etc, the Moon Palace is fairly inexpensive for a wonderful vacation. No one has backed out on my wedding yet but I have a feeling a couple might. I am prepared for it.If I have unmatched BM vs gm, I'll just double up.

I'm right there with you Mocha... we'll be covering FMIL and FgrandmaIL, partially at least because of financial constraints...but aside from those two women, my FH has two brothers...and that's about all the family that my FH will have there

CynLovesLuis - So sorry to hear about your luck. We were also worried that some of our Bridal party couldn't afford the trip, and I know I can't count on the GM until they actually pay for themselves. I'm pretty sure that we will end up paying for FMIL and FFIL?!? I hate being responsible for paying for grownups! But as with all our other guests, we will just wait to see who books and hopefully, we will have enough rooms for the free unlimited private events.

And the bright spot will be that at least we will have great pictures?
