Schica,

I emailed my wedding coordinator the question so I'll post it on the board once I find out! Her responses are non existent lately and I leave for Cancun in 19 days . . .but I know she's amazing so I hope she's just busy making other weddings perfect and something didn't happen to her. . . .Even though she's not responsive I guess its comforting to know she's giving brides down there full attention.

Does anyone have any information from the MP showing what can be used and included in the vacation dollars?I know they keep changing rules so I was wondering if anyone had anything to show that you could use the dollars to rent golf shoes/clubs etc that way when we're down there we can show that so they can pull one over on our guests?

I love this! This is exactly what I want to do! So MP didn't charge you to use their vases and put the beads in the vases?  Did you tell your WC at your meeting that you wanted this?

I just asked our WC to put a vase in the center of each table. Each one provided by MP had gel beads in our wedding colors and when we got the we just put the bouquets in. It didn't cost us anything extra. I just really didn't feel like spending more money, especially since the wind could knock stuff over.

The Tulum trip was a wasted day in my opinion. After the 2 hours on the bus we stopped at an expensive shopping area, then back on the bus for a half hour for the rest of the way to Tulum. Once we finally got to the ruins I was so bored with our guide that we all took off for the beach. I didn't even look at what I was taking pictures of. I did the walk by, point and shoot, we'll see what turns up later. We had lots of fun in the ocean and then spent a little time at the market where the bus drops you off. Then it was another hour on the bus to Xpu-Ha Resort where the food was mediocre but you're just so starving at that point you battle the rest of the group. There was barely any fish in the snorkeling lagoon and kids in kayaks kept running into us or hitting us on the head with paddles. Back on the bus for another hour to Moon Palace.

Isla Mujeres was a lot better. Half hour bus ride into Cancun, catch the boat to Isla Mujeres which is about 45 minutes. Arrived at Dolphin Discovery and ate the buffet lunch, then grabbed the $5 taxi ride to Isla Mujeres Palace. There we lounged in the pool and at the swim up bar, tried out the water cycles, and ate again at their buffet. Then we took another $5 taxi ride back into the town for some shopping. The boat ride back is more fun with tequila shooters. Then a quick nap on the bus for the ride back to MP.

The ziplining place is across the street from MP but they take you on a 20 minute ride to try to sell you additional activities. It was fun and only lasted about half an hour. They didn't want to take us back to the resort right away so a group of us paid $28 to have a bus take us back across the street so we wouldn't have to wait.

The bus to Cancun was quiet, we got off at Beach Palace because it is close to La Isla for shopping. Don't bother going to Flamingo Mall it's just expensive crappy stuff. We walked around La Isla and then checked out Beach Palace, grabbed some dinner there and caught the bus back to MP.

I think safety can be an issue anywhere. Just consider your nearest downtown, there's probably areas you avoid and people you wouldn't talk to. It's the same thing anywhere, don't look for trouble and you'll be fine.

I've heard of other people getting "surprises" like this from their WCs...despite their lack of responsiveness in the months leading up to the wedding, I have ONLY heard amazing things about when you get there and how accomodating they are.

Have any of you used him for centerpieces? How does that work? Does he work with Zuniga...?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
