Thanks Mocha! I already warned the fiance to put on sunscreen. I was like don't jack up my pics:-) We're there for 4 days before so that's alot of sun beforehand.

Ok great! I am really excited to hear that they do a good job on makeup. I always look like a clown after my makeup is done. I think I'll bring my own foundation and mascara though b/c I know what works for my skin.

OK I'll def ask my coordinator. Thanks!

I saw your other post about being able to upgrade to moet for your champagne for $165/bottle. Was it worth it? I def won't have enough vacation dollars for it b/c I'll need like 10 bottles.

My hubby and I both look really dark in our photos, many people kept mistaking us as locals and even after we told them we only spoke English, they continued speaking Spanish to us.

I didn't bring my own makeup, they just used theirs. They had a large selection. They also did my MIL's makeup and the colors looked great even on her paler skin. I've heard they do a really good job at applying fake lashes too.

We had an outdoor reception and they provided a room nearby for us to use. I changed dresses too and just had mine in a guest's room close by. I don't recall seeing anything near the ballrooms, but they might provide you with one of the concierge rooms. They are really accommodating, so I'm sure they'll find a solution for you.

We had 5 full days in the sun before we got married so that's why we were peeling so much. I used their makeup because I wasn't sure how dark I would be after that amount of sun. I wish I had remembered my own mascara because I was a little worried using theirs. I don't normally wear mascara and it took about 4 days to get it all off!

I don't think it was worth the $165. Some of our guests just wanted to use up their vacation dollars though. The regular sparkling wine that they serve as champagne is not bad. It was just a special treat to have the Moet. My MIL ordered 4 bottles and it seemed to be enough for 30 people to each have at least 1 glass. The funny thing is, it ended up being the Moet pink.

Is this at the reception? I (or my guests) can use $165 of their resort credit for a bottle of Moet champagne?

How does that work? I (or my guests) just put in an order beforehand and what our room number is to deduct the resort credit? I didn't know about this!

We had some at our welcome dinner, some at our reception, and one night at dinner my sister requested a bottle. You can have it anytime. To charge it to your room they ask for the room number, your bracelet number and then you sign a receipt. Just make sure to tell them to use palace dollars for payment. It is one of the upgraded wine options so you order it whenever you like.

Thanks for the heads up! I am glad to hear that the regular champagne is decent. At the bar, can you get sparkling wine anytime?

So the mascara took days to get off? So does that mean it didn't run when or if you cried? I can't wear waterproof b/c I get raccoon eyes from the oils or something. I recommend Loreal lash tubes, It comes in a red/white bottle. It kind of flakes off vs smears so I like that but if I cry alot, so help me bc that will def flake off!

Oh nice! Thanks. And you said it ended up being Moet pink. Is that all they had?

I think I may be getting paranoid.  Are any of you worried about all the crimes against Americans in Mexico.  I have had MP booked for months, but I am just now getting ready to make my invitations and panic set in.  I am starting to think of other possible locations even if I do lose my deposit. What do you ladies think?  Has anyone looked into this?

Yes, the sparkling wine is always available. I had mimosas most mornings, and a few times I saw girls walking around at night drinking straight out of the bottle.

I didn't have make up remover, so yes, it took days to completely get rid of it all.

The only time I saw the Moet pink was at the reception. I probably should have told MIL to not pay for it, but she asked if it was okay and I agreed.

I don't think there is any charge for the bikes or tennis equipment. You just have to sign it in and out.

Kristi, don't worry at all. Moon Palace is like a secure compound. There is only one road in/out and it is far from the highway. Everyone has to sign in and out to access the grounds. If you're not on a tour bus you have to provide your bracelet number at the security gate. We had one guest arrive late and they made him sit on a chair in the lobby for two hours until they figured out what room he was supposed to be in. They wouldn't even let him get a bottle of water! It is super secure. We didn't have any issues when we were off the resort either.

Honestly, I think Cancun is fine. And Mocha's right -- MP is like a compound, super secure.

Most of the crimes that have been going on have been in the Baja California Peninsula (so clear on the other side of the country from Cancun)... and it occurs along the US/Mex border at most times...

Just be smart when you travel, that's all. I wouldn't worry too much.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
