We had that cake at our wedding.  I don't recall how many it served though (we just had 40 guests). My wedding colors coordinated with the flowers so I didn't make any changes, but if I recall correctly, I was asked about the colors of the flowers and could have made changes.  As long as you change to flowers in season, I think they're happy to accommodate that request.  Our group actually liked the taste of the cake.  Overall, I'll agree the desserts at MP aren't very good, but we thought the wedding cake we had was good.  I would also note that based on what I've read on this site, the brides that have been most disappointed in their cakes have been the ones that didn't pick a cake design from the MP catalogue and instead brought a picture of a cake they wanted duplicated.

Here's my summary of our cake from my wedding review:

We decided to upgrade the cake because we liked the design of one of the larger cakes. Everyone thought the cake was beautiful & tasted good too. We got vanilla with strawberries for one layer & chocolate with chocolate filling for another layer, & the top layer was tres leches (milk cake).  However, I didnâ€t talk to one person who tried the tres leches (even though when I went back at the end of the ceremony and asked for a piece of tres leches to go, there wasnâ€t any left).  Overall, Iâ€m glad we upgraded to the larger cake.

Also, does anyone know how many people this cake serves? Thanks!

Shan-Sorry, have been away from the computer for awhile!  We got more than we needed with 5 hours for the day of the wedding.  We definitely could have gotten away with 4.  Since our wedding was pretty small, we didn't really need a lot of photos at the reception.

The last time I looked at his prices, they were:

2 hours = $650

4 hours = $1300

5 hours = $1625

8 hours= $2600

10 hours = $3200

That was back in August of last year, so they may have changed since then.

We posted all of our pictures to a Shutterfly share site (it has pictures from our and a couple of our guests' cameras, too, but the professional photos are in their own albums).  If you are interested, the website is andrewandamandaweddingphotos.shutterfly.com.  There is a wedding album and a TTD album, Sascha was the photographer for both.

That is what I expected to spend- I dont want to go over $2000, but that sounds like a good deal.  Did you get all the pictures you needed in the 5 hours the day of the wedding?

Do you have your photos yet??? I would LOVE to see them!

Thanks Mocha! It was a great. I'm bummed...I emailed our photographer and she told me another 6 - 8 weeks for the photos. UGH!  I got the vase for my sand ceremony at Hobby Lobby.  I looked all over for a vase with a cork. I had each guest drop a sea shell into the bottom of the vase before the sand ceremony....so I needed a little bit bigger vase.

Thanks Leigh! It looks so pretty! I think this one is super cute and elegant, so I'm not really intersted in overcomplicating it... everything else in our wedding is super over-complicated!!

I was also debating about getting a monogram cake topper or getting a custom one made with Indian clothes... but I'm leaning towards the monogram, yous looks so cute. I like it!  Also, I'm wondering if we give them flowers (from my bridesmaids bouquets) if they'll charge us to just swap 'em out, I'm hoping they won't since we already paid for the flowers.

The cake.  I'm not a food snob, but I will say everyone who went to the Moon Palace with our group agreed the desserts were not good.  The cake tastes wet...like if you smushed it water would come out.  I like cake...regular mix out of the box here, I'm not picky. I couldn't finish my desserts there. My wedding cake wasn't any different.  I had one bite.  For the complimentary package you get two choices...either the one with ribbon and flowers on top or seashells.  As for picking out your cake....when you meet with your wedding coordinator she will show you pictures of different cakes and then you chose what flavor. We picked marble, but it was white cake when we cut into it.

Maybe I was at MP the week the cake baker was gone? lol

again with the new cake flavors! I was told choc, vanilla, strawberry, lemon, cheese, and carrot!

For the flavors, I didn't know there was a fruit flavor. Is that fresh fruit? Kalena only told me about Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, marble and cheese. Um what the heck is cheese? I hope cheesecake but that still doesn't make sense. I ended up going with Chocolate, vanilla and marble.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
