Liz,

I am also having a lot of problems with the Miami department and we are members. They have a new person that started a couple of weeks ago in their department. Her name is Geraldine and she apparently took over our account. I spoke to her yesterday to resolve some reservation issues and she did take care of them promptly. I never received any responses from any emails I sent to Lisa, llizano@palaceresorts.com. I actually sent her an email way back in January telling her that I hoped the service would improve because I too had guests that became so frustrated and tired of waiting that they booked through a tour operator. Sadly, the service only got worse as our account was shuffled around.

I hope things improve before your wedding.

We have 6 tables of 10.  We have 51 guest but I am doing 6 tables so it won't feel crowded.  And I am not doing assigned seating because it's a buffet and there aren't that many people.

Quick question - we are debating as to whether to have assigned seating at the reception or not.  We have 30 people total, so 3 tables of 10 with a buffet.  What is everyone else doing?

I am in the same boat as you...we maybe if we are lucky will have 5-10 guests, so to have a huge ballroom for just that many guests seem ridiculous...My thing I am curious about is the cocktail party, do they provide music? can we bust a move if we want?

Kim, if your wedding group is that small you can just use a restaurant reservation instead of the private event. You could even rent out the Caribbean Terrace because the per person fee would be much more affordable.

They don't provide music for the cocktail party, but if you provide it, I don't see why you couldn't break into dance. I considered doing our traditional dances at the cocktail party.

We only have about 12 people and so we are having our reception at a restaurant outside on the terrace.  We probably won't have a first dance and that makes me a little sad.  However, I wonder if I bring a song if they would play it on the terrace so we could at least do that.  Hmmmm that would make me so happy.

Unless it's a different Geraldine than Geraldine Flores, she didn't just start a few weeks ago.  We're members too & Lisa was handling everything for me at first before my wedding (last July) & then one email I sent to Lisa was answered by Geraldine (with no explanation), & from then on, Geraldine was the only one who responded.  I actually had better response time from Lisa (who was very prompt with me & my guests that contacted her before she disappeared), but Geraldine did answer every question, & everything worked out perfectly in the end!  When I was trying to get my refund back after our trip (since we had enough bookings to get our 7 night stay comped), Geraldine told me Lisa would "return" that following Monday & so I started corresponding with Lisa again & eventually I did get my refund...it took a while though!  I don't know if Lisa just takes a long vacation (from May through July last year) or what, but although it's pretty frustrating just have faith that your questions will be answered and everything will be wonderful when you get there!

Leigh,

I guess that is just another one of the lies that they tell us brides. It is Geraldine Flores. She told me she just started a few weeks ago. I guess now I have one more thing to write in my complaint. Before this wedding, I had only experienced vacations at Moon Palace and so I knew that everything in Cancun would be wonderful. Based on all our experiences, Cancun is so wonderful because the Miami office is so disrespectful that anything feels like a vacation!

I think we have decided to just go with a cocktail party and get the 1 speaker with the iPod hook up. So far we have 20 guests. We are getting the cocktail party for free cause we have enough nights. If more guests show we may add an hour. Claudia said that would be an extra cost of 200. We are having a huge reception when we get back for 200 guests so I can't see spending tons of money for extras in Cancun.

So I STILL have not heard back from Kalena, after a week and a half, 3 emails, 2 emails to the Miami contact who responds to me right away and forwards my messages to Kalena, and a phone message. My TA has also tried contacting them, but still nothing.  I asked the Miami contact for  a supervisor's email/phone number at MP, but did not get a response to that.

Does anyone have  a supervisor's email at the Moon Palace I could try?

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
