You should totally be able to book ASAP. We booked all of ours for our November wedding and are still working out kinks in the room contract (I just signed the wedding contract yesterday)! We had a lot of back and forths because I didn't agree with the terms given in the standard contract... I had them change the language in several places...

We did a site visit last month, and I booked all of my sites with the sales exec the day I got back -- we didn't even sign the contract yet. I also refused to let them put "3 mos before the wedding" in the contract to assign a WC. We have 7 events to plan, so I told them I need a WC assigned immediately and I put in my request for who I wanted...

I just found out I'm working with Cristina -- just sent her an email to introduce myself and to get started on our events!

I waited until about five months out and asked my Miami contact for the WC in Cancun's name.  She said no.  And so I just asked again.  And she sent it to me.  I don't know how far out you are but I didnt have a problem

How many people does the one layer cake serve?  Also, I thought this was picked out when you got there.  Are you just planning ahead?

From looking at the Palace website, it says the complimentary cake serves 35 people.  Since we are having around 30-35, I figured it would be enough (plus the buffet and other desserts).  The wedding coordinator sent me an email the other day asking if I wanted to upgrade the cake or not - I think she was just going through her list and figuring out what hadn't been decided on yet.

Hi! I am about to go crazy from all the stresses of life right now, so now I'm trying with all my might to find a way to do a site visit. As it turns out, I have a trip coming up in April for my fiance. He has a reunion with all of his college buddies in Indianapolis. Anyhow, as far as airfare is concerned, it's apparently cheaper to include a flight to Cancun before coming back to LA, than to just book a flight straight back from IND to LAX. So if you any of you other brides have trips coming up, see if sneaking in a flight to CUN is cheaper, too!

SChica, when you booked your 226/night visit, did you receive all the other normal privileges? I know you said airport transfers are extra--how much were they? And, did you still get the promotional resort credit with the days you stayed for the site visit?

Thanks so much & congrats on making it official!!

For anyone thinking about doing a site visit, thought you might find this information useful. Palace resorts can give you a double occupancy Deluxe room for $226/night (that's $113 per person per night) for a max of 3 nights. Which is much cheaper than the site! Basically you have to fill out a form (I attached it here) and send it back. Then they'll contact and make the arrangements with the specific resort you're interested in. You'll have to pay extra for your airport transfers.

I'm planning to go down to MP next week, and will give you all a full report! Let me know if you have any specific questions and I can try to get them answered when I'm there. Thanks!

Hi Vettiebean -- so when we went for our site visit, they gave us the special $226/night rate, for 2 people UP TO 3 nights. We stayed all 3. Because of the discounted price, we did not get any of the resort credt promotion. But that does include everything else -- it's all inclusive, food, drinks, non-motorized sports, etc. We also set up a meeting to meet with a sales rep in the weddings dept (given we didn't have a WC assigned to us yet) -- that was only 1 day, so the rest of the time we were trying all the restaurants, walking around to see the resort, and just enjoying the beautiful weather and pool areas!

So it takes a few days to get the room blocked with that rate because you have to fill out a form, then send it to your WC, who then has to get an official approval from the Hotel to get the rate. Then you have to fill out the CC form, THEN they'll send you the reservation confirmation. So after you get your confirmation, they send you a code. On the palace resorts website, there's a link to book transfers. When I put in my code, I booked my transfers for both my fiance and I, the site didn't ask for my CC info or charge me anything! I feel like it's supposed to be $10/person for roundtrip transfers (at least that's what the room contracts say for our guests...) -- I'm not fully sure what happened, but I didn't ask about it either...

Hope this helps!

Hi Schica! Thanks for the info! It definitely helped. Going on a site visit would mean pushing back paying for/buying other things.... but at this point, I think it might be worth it. I am so beyond exhausted and stressed, I think I'll have a meltdown if we don't go somewhere! Hubs can really use it, too. These 18 hour days are really starting to drain him. :(

On the chance that we do get to go, I'm going to fill out the form and send it in asap!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
