Yes, we booked under my aunts membership so it was included that anyrooms booked under her membership that week would count toward our group. We had initially booked with our TA. After half our guest missed the initial booking deadline we tried to book a second room block but our TA could not get anymore rooms at our original rate. We then rebooked under my aunts membership to secure more rooms at a reasonable rate. We were able to get it in writing that rooms booked under our TA, with the resort, and under membership will all count toward our group.

KSmith, the nights booked through memberships also count? I was told that they don't. Interesting...

MP seems to have a lot of contradictory rules, not just about this, but regarding everything. Don't even get me started on the photography thing...

Oh I see, so it has to be a blocked group of rooms thought right? My TA is actually getting better rates from her wholesalers, meaning it'd be cheaper for my guests to book through my TA on a first-come first serve basis. Meaning if they wait too long, the prices will go up. Obviously, the upside to booking a block is we're holding the rooms at that price for our guests...

I think if the TA books rooms on her own without a blocked group of rooms, then the promotion doesn't count. I FWD'd the email from the sales rep to confirm this.

We haven't technically signed the contract yet... so they're still being responsive to me! Haha! I know once I sign, it'll be weeks at a time before I hear from my WC.

On a seperate note, is it true that I'll only get a WC assigned to me 3 months before the wedding?! I need to start planning my decor and all of the other private events starting now. Will I have a WC to work with me?

Even if I have to wait a week at a time for a response, I guess that's fine, but as long as someone's around to coordinate this stuff...

When I signed my contract I got a welcome letter from my onsite WC. It had all of her contact info and said that she would be in touch with me 3 months before the wedding. When I want to address something that I cant wait for I just email her. It takes about a week to get a response but she does respond. That is how I booked my locations in advance. (Be sure to do this if you want specific locations for the ceremony and recption). I did not get my first choice for my ceremony (another bride beat me to it) but I did get the reception area that I wanted. Some brides have said that they had to call Miami to find out who their onsite WC was but you really should receive a welcome letter with that information after you sign your contract.

I talked to my WC today and we reserved a terrace for the rehearsal dinner.  It is at the Verando Terrace.  If someone had pictures that would be great :)

Also, she said I should go ahead and make an appointment for my hair.  I was going to do a practice run when I get there Tuesday.  I had a friend get married at beach palace and they didn't really get the "lose curls" concept and I just want to make sure we have it down.  I just can't decide what time.  Our ceremony is at 5.  We are going to do "first see" photos and most all of the photos before hand.

Hi,

I just tried reserving the Caribbean Terrace - it's the rooftop one and I'm being told it is not included in the unlimited private functions as it has a sushi bar etc.

She is suggesting the Tucan Terrace - we are looking for a really private location with a bar that is included.  Does anyone know which location would give us that for our reception?

Thank you!

Angela

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
