Skadow - I'll probably invite everyone to everything but I've already decided that everything except the wedding day will be tagged as optional. Almost like a "Here's where we'll be if you care to join." I don't want our guests to feel like I am planning their vacation, but I also want to do some special things so that the celebration is more than just one day.

How do you know where your reception is already?  I was told we weren't able to do that until closer to the actual date?  I'm also getting married in April.

Once our numbers get higher and more definite I will probably book more private events. I figure it's better to reserve and cancel instead of end up with somewhere we don't want.

Kyndall and Blue&Starfish Bride,  All I did was tell my contact in Miami that I wanted to reserve private functions and she had the Cancun WC send me an email. I then requested the sites from her. I'm glad I did it since my first choice is already taken.

Kyndall - what is your date?

Hello ladies!

I'm doing the complimentary package and haven't decided yet on any of the extras.  Is anyone here NOT planning on hosting a cocktail hour/reception after the ceremony? My party is going to be less the 35 people so we were planning on just using the dinner reservation that is available with the complimentary package.  Haven't decided yet about the cocktail hour -- I was debating b/c technically since MP is all inclusive everyone in the party should be able to drink for "free" anyways at any MP bar....what are your opinions on just heading to one of the bars at the resort after the ceremony instead of paying for a cocktail hour?

We are planning a full reception when we get back home (for about 150-175 family/friends) so we're trying to cut our costs at MP since most people won't be there.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Hi Ladies,

My wedding cordinator at the Aventura Palace sent me this package as well. After I inquired. I don't know why they don't post it on their site.

Our MAYAN Wedding Package includes the following:

§         Location

§         Symbolic ceremony arrangements

§         Mayan Shaman to perform ceremony

§         Floral crowns for bride and groom

§         Mayan music with pre-Hispanic instruments with a sacred conch shell is performed before and during the ceremony.

§         Floral and candle arrangements for altar

§         Fruits of the season for Mayan offerings

§         Sacred drink “Balche†for bride and grooms toast offering

TOTAL COST: $1,000 dlls

The prepaid regarding your wedding collection is not part of this ceremony, so in case you would like to have the Mayan ceremony you also need to pay the 1,000 usd.

Let me know what you think

Best Regards

Wilma

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
