Jennw818:  Did you decide on Ivan Luckie? He is wonderful to work with! :)

We are using Danielle Davis. She is AMAZING! And prices are very affordable. One thing that we are offering to our guests are "mini session" this includes a 1 hour session with our photographer the day after the wedding for families/couples to get their pictures done on the beach. She will edit the photos and send everyone the rights and a CD with the images for only 100.00. This has been a HUGE hit because everyone wants family pictures while they are down there and this is extremely affordable.

thanks for the support Kyndall...yes it's an incredibly low price when you figure that just a little 100 bucks per person per night you get unlimited everything in 4 different hotels in a beautiful paradise... i think people just don't know what they are in for and are so hesitant to pay that much.... i've been to Moon once, my sister is a member and has been at least 4 times... the year of my wedding she'll be celebrating her bday in March and going back in July... I mean it's just THAT worth it.

I had a few friends panic about the violence.  I tried to reassure that the majority of those problems exist along the border towns.  Most of my guests are from the general Philadelphia area.  When these comments started to annoy me, I gently reminded them how unsafe certain parts of our own city are and that they are under no obligation to come. If they don't feel safe, don't go.  That easy!

My TA recommended booking the night stay for the photographer as well.  She said day passes are only good for a certain amount of hours.

So ladies using outside photogs? How are you telling the resort? I think I am going to book a night's stay for my photog and just forget the day pass b/c it might be easier for him to get on the resort. What do you girls think?

I'm having a similar issue Jenn, because my family and friends are also from Philly.  But I remind them that the resort is not in the greater metro area of Cancun...that's pretty much on lock down and you can't get in unless you're on the door list...and that the transportation to and from the airport is like 10 minutes and well organized and efficient... once they are on the resort property, there are very very few reasons to even leave and go out to Cancun...honestly you don't have to leave at alll...but if people want to do the zip line or wetn'wild...it's seriously like 5 mins down the road.

I know I have.  It's mostly from the in law side of the family that aren't going anyway so I'm not sure why they don't keep it to themselves.  I just remind people that we aren't getting married in juarez and you are in danger everywhere.

You really should visit the Del Sol Wiki..Have your family visit it even and take a look at all the slide shows from Del Sol. They have at least 5 slides of the moon palace that show the resort from every angle. It's not like some resorts were you see armed tanks on the beach or men with guns. Its COMPLETELY safe and beautiful. A lot of people feel better about something after they see it.

Its located http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/del-sol-photography-slideshows-riviera-maya#user_cn Their =)

Well,.....

Unless your married to the that one producer from Survivor...But I don't think that's the Moon Palaces fault..../Sorry bad joke!

skadow,

My mom mentioned that to my FMIL and she nearly backed out. She's afraid to go anywhere! But once you look at the number of visitors Moon Palace has, versus the number of incidents you will see that we are probably safer at Moon Palace than most of our home towns.

It's a safe, beautiful place unless you go looking for trouble.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
