I'm sorry but I got upset and told her that I don't want to hear it and if she is too scared to go then don't go but I can't wait on her because I would have to find a replacent bridesmaid. I know everyone's concern regarding the situation in Cancun but it is really dampening this wedding planning thing. Is anyone else going through the same situation where family/guests/wedding parties are bringing negativity to your wedding? My wedding is scheduled for March 25, 2011 at Moon Palace and I definitely don't want to change it because the fear of "What If". Sorry, I just needed to vent :)

I even had a little left over to get a dress for the reception dinner and welcome party.

Cynthia,

Thank you so much for the pictures.  Do you know the name of the location by the pool?  Honestly, they are all so pretty.  What did you decide on for your events?  Our ceremony will be on the beach. That's all I've decided so far.  Would like to reserve my reception location soon though.

My pleasure! :) The pictures of the pool, was really just the walk ways...one of the pics I sent you though, that looks like it's from up avobe...is from the Arrecifes restaurant terrace (Nizuc side) i'm pretty sure.. it's a beautiful view of the pools... I"m shooting for the unlimited events so on my list are a bridal party meet and greet (they are from all over the country) bridesmaid brunch, farewell breakfast for guests, cocktail hour, reception, and whatever else I come up with LOL

Oh, perfect.  I'm going to ask about that one for one of my events.  Do you know what section you are staying in? When do we find out about that?  I'm really hoping for the unlimited events too.  If so, I will probably have a welcome cocktail party, rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour, reception and maybe a brunch the day after.  So how does that work exactly?  If we do qualify for the unlimited events, is the reception still only 2 hours?  On your visit, did anyone explain what the basic setup included is?  I have so many questions.  I wish we didn't have to wait so long to talk to the wc.

JennW818,

I asked my miami coordinator about the reception time and she said as long as you're in a ballroom there is no set amount of time for the reception. I hope she understood my question though, lol. I actually asked for the Star Ballroom but since my wedding will be about 100 guests or less, they suggested the Carey Ballroom. I was like fine, whatever b/c the pic they sent me looked the same as the other ballrooms. Plus I don't want to mich open space in the room, I want that intimate feel.

As for my previous post about flowers, I know I am crazy but I am still thinking of making the bouquets myself. I watched the youtube video and it looked pretty easy. I am just worried about getting the flowers onsite. Between my mom and some of my bms, we should be able to get the flowers done. I know sometimes my time is worth more than money spent  but I rather take that $120 and give my girls a really nice present. I am going to do the freeze dried petals for the walkway though. I am not really interested in the real touch flowers since I don't know what they are like and don't want to lug them with me!

OMG, you are so lucky JennW818 for winning the wedding dress and the BM dresses! I just bought my girls their dresses from Jcrew. I was really lucky b/c they were on sale for $50 and were the perfect color. I decided to pay for them since they were spending so much to come to the wedding. I have 8 girls so sometimes I wish I had 3 or 4 but I love them all so I had to have 8.  I got the girls the silk tricotine dress in sophia and allegra in the color deep rose which actually is coral like. I should be getting them this week. Wish me luck they look good!

I know exactly what dress you are talking about form JCrew.  I love it!!  I love both my dress and the bridesmaid dresses, but they are definitely not what I would have picked if I was paying for them.  I just don't have the budget to turn down getting all of them for free.  I probably would have chosen something like your bm dress.  Did you pick out your dress yet?

I know exactly what you mean.  I originally had 6 girls, one had to back out because she is pregnant and preparing for her sister's wedding.  I would be so much easier with a small number, but I love them all.

Honestly, I think all of the venues, inside and out are beautiful.  I don't think we could go wrong with any of them.

I found a post on here from a bride who order her flowers from a local florist in Cancun and had them delivered.  The florist said they were a gift from a guest.  I'm going to contact the florist she used for prices.  I will even go pick them up if need be.  I also think that money can be better spent.  Have you decided what  you are doing for a photographer?

Interesting information Terpgurl!  I asked for the Star Ballroom because i'm thinking 150 guests... and this ballroom has MUCH MUCH higher ceilings than the Carey Ballroom...but I definitely am concerned about what you are talking about... and having a reception hall that looks more empty than full...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
