Cowgirlcomo,

We were able to reserve our wedding date with the free civil package for $300. That is the cancellation fee, but they have processed the payment on my cc. I think if you reserve a package you need to put down 50% deposit. We plan on switching to the amber package closer to the wedding date.

I choose the free package as well since I was unsure of how many guest i'm having and had no idea what color theme I was gonna go with. Yes, if you reserve a package, they want half of the deposit. I plan on switching to a package as my date gets closer as well.

I wonder, am I the bride you are referring to, Ivan? I spoke to the Cancun coordinators as well and they said it was ok, as long as we got you a room...I don't know why my WC in Miami would say something different? Maybe they are playing hardball...so I will pay them more money? Seems a little bit dishonest, if you ask me.

We had to pay the Judges fee upfront.  And we are choosing the complimentary package so we just had to put down a deposit of how long me and my fiance are staying.  Then once enough people book their rooms we will be credited back.  Also, the guest are only having to put a deposit of two nights down by February and then pay the rest when they get there.  We get married in April.  Hope this helps.

I think you just have to have a room there.

Hello Cowgirlcomo!

I am getting married in June at the moon palace and I have to tell you that after all of my research-- this looks to be the best place! From what I have heard (from those who travel to cancun frequently) this resort is the best! A couple points that really helped make my decision:

*MP has 14 restaurants and 11 bars-- this is great for variety and ensure you will get reservations.

*Apparently MP is the "safe" hotel that they move other hotel guest to in the event of a hurricane. They always are equipped with the space and plenty of food as well as the fact that this hotel is (for the most part) in a safer location off of the beach.

*This is a spa and golf resort offering plenty of options

*This hotel is close to the airport and the first stop off of the shuttle.

Let me know some dates you were looking at :)

Hi Everyone!

We are planning on getting married at the Moon Palace in April 2011 - does anyone know if you can use other people's 1500 vacation dollars towards your wedding?  My dad is coming and I don't think he'll use his vacation dollars so we want to know if they are transferable; can we use his dollars towards excursions for us or put it towards our wedding.

Thanks!

BBA

Angela,

My parents have been to MP during the palace promotions, and apparently you can buy anything or anyone no matter what room they are in. The only thing is you have to use your entire 1500 towards the wedding package. So yes, your dad should be able to pay for your activities with his room bonus, but he won't be able to apply any remaining balance to your wedding.

Hi Everyone!

I just joined the site after reading all of your very helpful comments on the board! I am getting married at MP on April 13, 2011 at 4 pm. I am hoping to book Ivan Luckie for my photography. I've heard some awesome things about him, and his pictures look great! Has anyone else booked him?

I'm looking forward to talking to all of you fellow Moon Palace Brides! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
