Hello Ladies,

I was just wondering..... Is anyone worried about the drug war happening in mexico? I'm starting to become a bit concerned considering that my wedding is 13 months away and afraid things can get worse. Some guest have made comments regarding the war and I simply brush them off. Heck, things happen everyday all over the world. I can have my wedding in NY and we all know how busy NY has been with all the terrorist issues. I'm just a tad bit concerned.

Diamond Girl - I wouldn't worry too much. Moon Palace is a pretty safe resort. I think most of the problems are on the west coast and closer to the US border. My FMIL is so worried about travelling to Mexico, but we keep telling her that there's crime everywhere so just enjoy the positive things about the trip. After all, bad things can happen right in your own home.

My wedding is in March and my Mom is very concerned about the same things!  I talked to my travel agent about my mom's concerns. She reassured me that they keep the resorts very safe, that their business depends on that.  I'm sure it could spread, but there really isn't anything we can do about it.  Worrying about won't help, so try and forget about and enjoy planning your day!  That is what I am doing:)

Hey KLC -
We have a similar amount of guest attending. How are your plans so far? Are you doing the private funtion on the terrace or in the ballroom? Have you thought about DJ, dance floor, etc? Happy planning!

Southern Sweetie - did you book flights & rooms yet for your wedding? I didn't want to book our wedding yet because we can't find any flight info for next year. Plus, I'm really nervous about room costs for our guests. We plan on inviting about 60 people down there with just immediate family and close friends.

I just also want to make sure that they will still be offering the group benefits for a big group - I saw right now that the bride and groom will get a free 7 night stay and unlimited private functions with booking 25 rooms.

Looking forward to talking with you all :)

hi ladies!

i just came back from a site visit at moon palace.  my fiance were pretty much all set with having our wedding at MP (because of the catholic chapel), but so many things happened over the wkend that i don't think we are going to end up getting married here.  anyway, i got SO MUCH helpful information from here that i figured i should pass it on.

i have been REALLY lucky because both my coordinators have been great at responding pretty quickly.

carilis felipe has been awesome.  i had received two different group block rates; the cheaper rate from a TA and she was able to talk to her supervisor to meet that rate.  she responded quickly to ALL my questions; most things i knew already after reading through this forum but i wanted to get it in writing from her (which i definitely suggest).  we already had a deposit on our ceremony (11.04.11), but will most likely be cancelling it and getting our money back (so i hope that goes smoothly).  i even requested a specific site wedding planner (kalena arroniz) and she worked to get her assigned to my wedding (1+ years in advance).

kalena arroniz was GREAT.  she didn't respond as quickly some times (probably the longest i waited was one week?), but when she couldn't her assistant (karen, i think) did.  i got in touch with her early because we had planned this site and had a meeting set up with her so that we can go over wedding details. i also requested a menu and cake tasting which she set up (she even let us taste 2 different buffet options and you should see the size of the cake tastings!!!).  she walked us through the resort to the different ceremony and reception locations and helped us finalize our selections for our cocktail hr and reception.  she answered ALL my questions (i have it typed up and left it with her, but i have copies so if any of you need it.. let me know) about the ceremony, cocktail hr, and reception.  honestly, i REALLY loved kalena just from our first mtg.  she was very attentive to us through email and at our mtg and was very helpful.  if the experience with the resort itself wasn't as bad, then i would have had my heart set with MP just to have her as my coordinator.

if any of you are having a difficult time with your coordinators, i would highly suggest asking if you can switch to carilis and kalena!! :)

if anyone needs pictures of the resort or the document of questions i asked kalena, please email me and i will send it to you.  i don't go on here often (well, i will be on here more now since i basically have to start planning from scratch to look for a new resort), but i don't really like using the private messages option.  email is much more easy and quicker: damitaprilurcool at gmail dot com.

hope this helps and good luck all of you!!!

Hi again!  I'm sorry, I didn't mean to freak anyone out by my last post!  I just wanted to add a little side note to my last post.. There are A TON of brides that had an AMAZING experience, so please don't base any decisions off a personal experience I had.  I think my fiance and I just had a different expectation.  Also I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but there were parts of the trip that we did like.  Anyway, I'm responding to emails when I can :)  Sorry again... if I freaked anyone out.

I've been having trouble getting the buffet/grill station options from the Moon Palace.  They did sent me the plated menus, but since we plan on having and outdoor reception and the wedding details say that plated menus are for indoor only, I kind of need to see the buffet options.

If anyone has that and can share, please let me know.  And thanks in advance...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
