Group Contracts at MP--- anyone have extensive expereince with this?? We're not sure how many rooms to book or for how many nights. The hotel wants the # of rooms and the specific dates of travel, but we don't know when our guests are going to want to travel. We're offering a 3, 4, and 7 night package, but some guests are of course going to deviate from that plan... any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone,

I'm getting married in January 15, 2011. I'm so excited 10 more months to go. I have my rooms blocked, dates set, and photographer booked (they are staying as our guests). I'm not using a travel agent, just the resort.

gemmalou- I was really hesitant to have the resort photographers because they didn't get any good reviews, a lot of brides were really sad because their photos came out so bad! sad.gif I would recommend that you find your own photographer. I'm using KTBweddings.com

I'm looking for flights to Cancun, but can't find any direct flights. I heard it was best direct if you can, or not to have stops in Mexico just in case anything happens.

I'm working on all the details to the wedding now so I don't have to stress about this right before the wedding or during the holidays. Hopefully, the time and stress I put in right now will save me right before the wedding.

One of the things I'm looking at right now are the decorations and table decor for the reception. I want lots of real flowers for my wedding but they are so expensive! And with the no outside vendor policy its really difficult to figure out what I should do. Any suggestions?

MsJesslee, I am using RealTouch flowers by Angels Accents. To save on decorating costs, I am going to "recycle" my bridesmaids bouquets by putting them in vases as part of the reception table decor. By the time the reception gets going, we'll be done with formal pics; and with every wedding I've been to or be in, those bouquets usually just end up lying around on tables, chairs, floors, etc. anyway. Angels Accents website: ANGEL'S ACCENTS. Based on the many reviews I've read, you can't tell the difference between real flowers and RealTouch. She does excellent work and will send you photos of your arrangements/bouquets BEFORE she ships them so you can make any changes if need be. (I'm sure MP doesn't offer this service.)

I agree with you, the prices for the flowers are riduculous and the last time I checked, they only made boutennieres for the groom. Two of many reasons why I'm shying away from real flowers. Additionally, I read that a Mexico bride had regrets about her real flowers because they faded on her dress!! Can you imagine how aweful that washuh.gif

Hi Girls! How exciting that theres a thread for 2011 brides at Moon Palace! I am getting married at Moon Palace Feb 2011. We are planning on booking in the next couple of weeks. We are thinking 2nd week in Feb. We've got quotes from a couple of travel agents and so far it seems like it might be better to book directly with the hotel and figure out flights in the fall when seat sales are happening. Might be a little more stressful that way but trying to find the best prices for my guests. We plan on doing the free wedding package and adding on extras. So far the Moon Palace has been great with returning my emails and answering all of my questions. Nice thing with booking directly with the hotel is that guests have until the fall to pay thier deposit which is equal to 2 nights stay and the final balance due at check out. More time to save up. iTravel2000 wants final payment over 4 months in advance. The travel agent also made me think that there were going to be a lot of problems for us if we booked everything seperately, like transfers to hotel, quoted prices not being honored, etc. So far I have not heard or read anything of the sort. I was told though to make sure to book tranfers online well before departure. I believe it was $10 round trip. Cant complain about that!

Happy planning everyone!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
