Horrible family issues and leaving in 2 wks!

So let me just start by saying this is one of the worst weeks ever!! My grandma has been in and out of the hospital for the last month, but 2 weeks ago she was doing rehab in a facility near our home. Well she took a turn for the worse earlier this week and she keeps getting weaker and weaker. So I have had a horrible cold and have been unable to see her. Well today a guy that works next to me passed by my mom in the hall...so he came right to me and told me to check on her because she looked like she had been crying. So I dropped everything and ran to her office (we work at same place). She was crying and told me that my grandma is doing really bad! I told her that i want to see her, but still have my cold and do not want to take any chance. She then replied by telling me at this point it really will not make a difference! OMG!!!! So I went with her after work and barely recognized her! Keep in mind that we leave in 2 weeks and our wedding is in 3 weeks! A few of my family members are suppose to go!

So I feel super guilty!! However, I have not mentioned everything. My FI's brother called him a couple weeks ago to tell him that their mother is terminally ill with cancer and does not have long!! So as I am typing this my FI is on an airplane to CA. And just when i thought this week could not get any worse, I had to put down my kitty from college yesterday! She was completely fine until Mon...did not eat. I took her to the vet Wed morning, they said they ran a bunch of tests but everything seemed to be fine and working. However, she stayed the night at the vet to get rehydrated. They told me to come and pick her up in the morning. So i called them when i got into work, the receptionist told me the vet would call me back. Long story...a little short is she had cancer throughout her body!! So i had to make the final decision!! Can I just say that is one of the worst things to do!!!

Ok, sorry to vent so long...but I am soooo stressed out right now and when I am suppose to be on cloud nine because of our wedding I am down in the dumps!!

Thanks for listening!

I'm so sorry to hear about your family and your poor cat! I hope that everything works out for you and your FI. Remember to keep taking care of yourself- all of this stress and sadness can be so hard on a person. Try to be sure that you're eating and sleeping right, if you can. I don't know why things seem to happen at once like this but remember that you'll get through it. All the best to you and your loved ones.

AAAwwwhh... this makes me so sad to hear about these terrible things happening at this special time. I had the same thing happen with my kitty so I know how horrible that decision is to make. I just cried myself to sleep for a week or so. Family illness is not easy to deal with to begin with, so I am sorry this is happening when you are supposed to be being happy. I wish you and your family the best and hopefully you can enjoy your big day.

I am so, so sorry, Andrea. I can't even imagine how devastated you must be. Take a deep breath and keep doing what you're doing. Your wedding might be just the thing your family needs. In the worst case scenario and your family can't come, know that they still will be there with you in spirit. Stay strong - we're all thinking of you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
