How is everyone booking their travel arrangements for themselves and their guests? Travel sites or travel agent?  If so what agents or sites did you use?  I'll probably need to book 15 rooms with about 27 guests including me and FI.

We used our travel agent, which as far as I know, is the only way they take reservations, besides hotwire, expedia and other travel sites.  I have read horror stories about booking through travel sites with them filling up and moving guests who booked through sites to other resorts as they try to keep people who booked together for weddings priority.

My parents booked a Miami vacation through a site and when they got to the hotel they were very unhappy with the accomidations and wanted to move, because they booked through a site there was nothing the hotel could do and they did not have a contact to reach out to at the site.  I suggest using a travel agent, there are many perks associated with it and then you also arent dealing with all your guests questions about travel etc.

A good travel agent is invaluable!

Thanks, decided to go with the travel agent. Switching subjects, has anyone had their semi-private dinner at the steak house? I heard the see & sea is nice but I don't really care to much for seafood, just wanted to know if the steak house was good. I think I read somewhere that the room was hot, but I could be wrong.

Have you seen a copy of the menu? I can send it to you, if not. The See & Sea is actually a surf and turf meal with lobster and beef. I've heard great things about both. Our wedding is November 9th, and we booked back in March/April, the steakhouse was already taken. Whichever you decide, be sure to let them know that and the reception spot as soon as possible. BTW, I noticed that you are from Northern Virginia, I live in Virginia Beach. :)  Good luck!!

Hello! My fiance and I will be staying at Majestic Elegance for a week in the beginning of February and having our wedding at the Jellyfish Restaurant.  We started planning a resort wedding and found that the times/dates we wanted were not available. Even though our wedding is not at the resort, we will all be staying there (approx. 35 guests)

I wanted to know if anyone else was running into similar issues. I asked if we could have a semi-private dinner at one of the al a carte restaurants; Sandra (WC) informed us that they could book an area of the Flavors buffet for dinner. I know there was at least one other bride that had a rehearsal dinner at See and Sea for many more people (and had her wedding ceremony and reception at Jellyfish)

The other question I had for other brides is in regards to photographers. I understand the resorts motive to charge for outside photographers to come into the resort if you are having your wedding at the resort. However, I do not see the motive in charging $300 just for a photographer to come in for a couple of hours to take photos at the resort before leaving for the wedding ceremony and reception. When I talked to Phil S. he said that he stays at ME all the time so they do not charge him. I was hoping to use another photographer; however, it appears I may not have much choice. Has anyone else faced this problem and what was the resolution?  Couldnâ€t we just pay the day pass and get some shots before leaving for Jellyfish?

We will just miss each other! We arrive 1/30/12 and leave 2/6/12! I am so excited, but finding myself frustrated with the little details (such as photographer fees!) I just emailed our first pick photographer and asked if she is aware of any great beaches for pictures outside of the resort and not at the jellyfish (I don't want the seagrass in our pictures!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
