My WC (Sandra) informed me that the only place for the rehearsal is the buffet, even though we will not be using our "free" dinner since our ceremony time is late in the day and it doesn't allow for a dinner and reception....which wasn't explained to me at the time of booking. I was upset by this since our wedding fees seem to include this in the $1750

Hello Ladies,

Congrats to everyone on all the lovely engagements and for choosing such amazing places to wed.

My fiance and I have just set our wedding date for May 15th, 2012 at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana and could not be happier with all that they offer.

I am curious how is everyone dressing their men? I wanted to rent the khaki colored pants and jackets for my man and his groomsmen but not sure if we should rent there in the Dominican Republic since the guys are all spread out and I want to make sure they all have the same tux (and when I say spread out I mean all over the world so we can't just go to a Men's Warehouse and know that they will all have the same color and style.)

How have former brides solved this dilemma? Please let me know :)

Thanks for the support. We have gone through the wave of emotions of feeling mislead. But all in all, we will take our pictures before the ceremony and instead of having a plated or buffet dinner, we are having appetizer stations at the reception plus cake and dessert trays. I figure with the heat and drinking, who wants a full dinner anyway. On our programs we are suggesting that family have dinner together since it is such a late ceremony time 6:30 p.m. We won't be able to join them but at least we won't be stressed about starving guests

We are getting married on November 9, 2011 at the Majestic Elegance. We are unsure of the amount of people we will be having and if it's less than 15-20, we were thinking about not having a reception after dinner. Has anyone just had the ceremony and dinner? If I decide not to have the reception, is there anything to do around the resort after for guests? Such as a fun bar?

Thanks for any advice you may have!

Getting married June 29 at ME and we have 12 people including bride and groom.  Our ceremony is at the gazebo at 1pm (boo, wish i could have a later time), cocktail hour at lobby bar at 2:30, dinner at steakhouse at 6:30.  those are the only "planned" events we have.  after the cocktail hour i want us to get some group pictures, so that'll prob take some time.  oh, i almost forgot... after dinner we are going to go back to the gazebo with our Ipod and speakers for our first dance and father/daughter dance.  not sure where the night will lead us at that point.  i'm just going to go with the flow :)  i'm pretty sure the only "dance" club is the disco and it opens at 11pm.  you could go to the piano bar or somewhere else where they play music.  i'll let you know when we get back how it all turned out :)

How exciting! Your wedding is right around the corner!! :) We will probably have about the same amount of guests. That's a great time...more time to wear your dress, take pictures, and enjoy yourself! Are you just having your guests meet at the lobby bar for the cocktail hour or did you plan it with your coordinator? That's a beautiful idea for your first dance! I would love it if you could update me when you get back. I hope your wedding is everything you've dreamed of and more. :)

Hello Ladies!

Getting married at the Majestic Elegance on June 26, 2012.  Already confirmed the date and time, 4 pm (I originally wanted the 27th but only had a 1 pm option).    I will probably only have around 10-15 people attending as well, mostly family.  I'm trying to decide whether to have the dinner at the restaurant (not private) or have a private dinner outside. What do you ladies think?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
