Ashlynn - We are using William Sanchez as our photographer.. Destination Wedding Photographer Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Cancun | William Sánchez

I don't think there are any reviews on this website so far, and I only know one other girl who has booked him for her wedding in April, but I like his pictures on his blog so I think he'll do a wonderful job!! Did you book a photographer yet? Maybe you're the bride who got Claudia Rodriquez for Nov 15? :P I think I emailed at LEAST 20 photographers for their rates and it's just nice to be done with that part of the wedding planning.

Blue and apple green sound like amazing colors! It's cute that your fiance was adamant about having blue no matter what. Boys like the blue! Maybe I should ask mine what color he wants the most, instead of choosing purple and telling him he can pick the next. I sound demanding don't I? I just love the pictures of bridesmaids in deep, popping purple colors against the white sand and blue ocean. But I also love the bright blues as well. Who knew picking colors could be so difficult?

I just emailed my wedding coordinator about our group rates, my wedding is becoming HUGEEEEE. We have 70+ people who have all confirmed they want to go in on group bookings. I was having a DW because I wanted a SMALL wedding, thinking no one would want to fly all the way to Mexico. This is starting to get expensive now...and I heard a rumor that Dreams Tulum won't offer the $20 menu anymore, so now it's either $55 or $65 per guest. I can't fathom spending that much on food!! There goes the out of town bags haha.

Wow that's alot of money per person for a destination wedding. Are you staying at an AI and they are still charging you that much. Unfortunately, I think DW are getting popular and now resorts are upping there prices. Do you have anything in writing saying you can have the $20package?

Yes, it's an all-inclusive which makes this absolutely ridiculous. I know that we are paying for the 'private service' because we are taking away servers/bartenders, but still, with so many people it gets insanely expensive. In 2009 and before, they had a $20 meal option, but apparently in 2010 that has ended. I unfortunately have nothing in writing sad.gif I'm hoping when brides start getting married in droves again (april/may), that one of them will come back with a review saying they still got to use the $20 menu. A girl can dream...

Hi Oceanwonderland,

We are getting married at Dreams PV. We were told that it would be an extra $35 a plate if we are to have more than 20 guests. Then we learned that it is actually $55 each. We confirmed this with Rebeca and asked why the difference. She told us the additional 20 was for the cocktail hour service. We were very upset to learn this and voiced our feelings to Rebeca. She could not do anything for us and this is what the resort has layed out. YOu are not alone in trying to comprehend the fees when you are paying already to stay at an AI. I do have to say thou, the food is fantastic at the Dreams resort. We were at Dreams PV last Nov. and were blown away by the quality of the food we decided to have the wedding there.

No! I didn't get her either! She was booked by the time I contacted her. :) I'm not sure who we'll be using yet.. I really want Elizabeth Medina so I'm just trying to figure out if we can fit her price into our budget. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can! And I don't think it's wrong for you to choose purple and let him choose the accent color, if he doesn't really mind then why settle for something other than what you want! I think the purple will be beautiful! I finally got to see our colors together on our Save The Date proofs and was relieved that I loved them! I'll post pictures on the forum once I receive them :)

PS - 70 people?! Thats huge!! I hope you can get the $20 per plate like you mentioned :)

I love everyones colour choices. Mine seem so boring now...lol...I also love that your grooms actually have an opinion on them. Mine really doesn't care and shows zero interest when I talk wedding talk. I mean I guess it's nice that I can do whatever I want but it'd be nice to have his feedback too. Afterall it is OUR wedding and not just mine.

I can't believe that Dreams makes you pay that much more for extra people. As if all those extra people booking didn't bring their resort tons of money. This is where it really bugs me to have a destination wedding. The resorts have the most ridiculous charges when you are already giving their resort lots of money and possibly repeat business. And of course us brides can do nothing but accept it and pay.

I can't wait to see some of your TTD pics. I really wanted to do this but we won't have enough time with the photographer and I have now decided to wear my dress for the whole evening. If I bought another dress for the wedding I wasn't allowed to buy one for the AHR. Priorities, right? :)

Your color choices aren't boring! I think it will be beautiful and classic :) And really, besides the colors and budget talk my fiance isn't overly involved. He is mostly "Whatever you like" on every other wedding aspect! And I agree, sometimes you want an opinion and it's nice to have his feedback (even if it takes me pushing him into giving me one!)

And I hear ya on the prices.. I feel like some of it is just crazy, but we have NO choice. I mean, a $300 dollar an hour DJ.. yikes! I need to move to Mexico and become a DJ, haha!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
