Reception: Kool Beach Club vs Blue Parrot

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if any of you have seen the Kool beach club or the Blue Parrot's VIP terrace and could give us some first hand? We really like both from the photos but would like to hear the pros and cons of each location. Any information would be helpful. Thank you!

Hi Cmathews, I am having my reception at Kool Beach Club :)

Well here's my opinion and it's just my opinion :)

Blue Parrot

It becomes a night club at night. Although you can get the private terrace which I would def do the loud club music that starts at 10pm is sort of unavoidable.

It is also next to another big night club do the combination gets pretty noisy.

Whats great is the WC Paula. She was great to work with and really tried to accommodate everything I was asking for. Especially in the menu. Once we went on our site visit it just was not for us.

Kool Beach Club

Because we have so many guests we were able to rent out the whole place :)

We really want total privacy and no on lookers

They had a lot more choice in terms of menus and we are so happy with the food there

We ate there almost every day for lunch on our site visit and love the food

The draw backs you have to use their DJ and equipment which is very expensive. weddings cannot start until 7pm but they don't have to end till 2am.

There is a lot more ambiance here in my opinion. They have these beautiful linen canopies for dinner and a really nice pool that I am filling with floating candles.

Although they have an events coordinator there you still have to hire your own WC for the day of your wedding to do everything.

I hope this helps and let us know what you decide!

Hello! I am also having my reception at Kool Beach Club. However, after our Welcome Party the night before, we are inviting anyone who is interested in staying out a little longer to join us at Blue Parrot for drinks/dancing/fireshow - so we get the best of both worlds! The biggest difference I see between the two is privacy and the amount of space you will need. At Blue Parrot, they have party areas that are seperated from the bar/club but obviously you can still see/hear everyone at the bar so it just depends how much privacy you want. Also, in terms of actual space, to me Kool seemed quite a bit larger than Blue Parrots VIP terrace; however, if you are having a smaller group the VIP area at Blue Parrot would def work. When I saw Blue Parrot during my site visit, they actually had a wedding that night and I did sneak a peak of their set-up and it was very beautiful! I really enjoyed both locations and see positives at either place. Good luck!

This was really helpful! I feel like we are making a good decision for our group to be at Blue Parrot. We have a smaller group, staying next to Blue Parrot at Playa Palms. We are going to do a heavy hors d'oeuvres reception in the VIP lounge with a mariachi. We just returned from our site visit. The tasting and service was amazing. We were worried about the noise so we went back later that night. Yes, it does turn into a club and its noisy. But the DJ was playing good music, people were dancing and the fire show was good too. I think our group will really enjoy it. Plus, we wont have to hire a DJ or other entertainment.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
