Group Exurcion Pay Question

Recommended Posts

My FI and I are hosting group excursion. On the excursion there will be a stop for lunch. We are paying the trip and the tours but I thought we could asks the guest to pay for their own lunch. The excurision is about $25 a person and it is 20 of us. The lunch is $10 a person. Any thoughts?

Wow, this is a good question! I think technically you should pay for lunch, but I know if I was a guest and had to pay for my own I wouldn't find that strange or be offended or anything. Hmmmm.... maybe some other girls will weigh in and give you a bit more help than I can. Good luck!

I don't think it is unreasonable to ask your guests to pay for lunch - as long as you make that clear before you go. If it was me, I'd be glad someone else was paying for the excursion and I wouldn't mind paying for the lunch! Also - I know my family at least is the type to grab a couple extra bananas from the buffet and bring them with rather than pay for a lunch - perhaps some of your guests would feel the same.

If the lunch was somewhere like a restaurant where everyone was ordering different meals and could eat as much or as little as they wanted, I don't think I'd have a problem asking guests to pay for it BUT from the sounds of it the lunch with your excursion is a fixed cost/menu so I think maybe just including it for your guests would be easiest? Plus depending on the activity, some guests might not want to be carrying a wallet or purse with them so it would help with that a lot. Personally I wouldn't care about the cost, since you're already paying for me to go on the excursion itself... but then again I always need food around me so I'd likely be carrying some with me and still buy my lunch :) I'm a little piggy sometimes LOL!

Yeah I think there are two ways you can go here. If you have some extra wiggle room in the budget and $200 isn't going to put a big dent in it, I would probably go ahead and pay for everyone's lunch. That being said, if I was a guest at your wedding and I was well aware that I was to bring $10 for lunch that day, I would not be offended by it. I would gladly pay it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
