In my case, I have a lot of friends that will not be able to make the wedding and the shower is the only opportunity to share the joy. As of now, we are not having a AHR.

My hope is those attending the wedding will just come for the festivities! :-)

I think a registry is a good idea even if your having a DW. I'm in the same boat as TLC, many of our friends and family are not attending our wedding but some are still sending gifts. I don't expect gifts from guests attending our wedding but some of my aunts are insisting. We totally appreciate the gifts for our new home! Also, I'm not having a bridal shower but we had an engagement party and a lot of people bought us gifts from our registry. I think you should go for it!

I think its a good idea, plus I heard that sometimes people will go off those lists around Christmas times or holidays, Housewarming ect. Times when people want to get you a couples present ,but don't know what to get you.

I registered at Home Depot ( we just bought a house)

Crate and Barrel ( For people who like getting nicer gifts)

Target ( For Practical Gifts)

If you register for items with a different prices, people can buy what they feel is approprate. So you don't have to worry about feeling odd. Who knows, co-workers or parents friends might want to get you something too.

I agree with the other ladies. I ended up registering and letting my mom's BFF throw me a shower even though I felt bad about it. Everyone said, you only get married once, enjoy it. I am trying not to feel bad about it and have a good time. Plus if you don't register people will buy you stuff you don't like/want, people want to help celebrate.

We registered since alot of our guests will not be able to attend. (Invited 110, so far booked 30 but expecting end result of about 50). I am not having a shower, though I will be paying for me and my two bridesmaids to have a spa day once we get to our DW. Though guests are paying their way to our DW a lot of them insisted on me doing a registry. IMO I think you should do the registry, you never know who may be able to make it or not and leave it up to them to decide whether they want to get you something from it or not. Good luck!

I didn't want to register at first since our guests had to pay for their own travel and rooms. But some of the guests who were not able to attend asked for a registry so I put together a small one at Macy's.

I just had my bridal shower this weekend and everyone brought gifts. Half of the people will not be at the wedding so I was happy with that. It was such a fun evening so don't stress too much. Those who cannot afford a big gift or any gift will bring a card or flowers or a nice bottle of wine.

do the registry! i did one because my mom is insisting on having a shower - and we havent heard any comments about doing it.

We have been very careful to be sure that no one feels (except our parents!) obligated to come to the dw....we've tried to make it have the feeling of "if you want to take a vacation - this would be a great time/place to do it" type thing....so its their choice!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
