I know I need to insure my ring. But what companies do that? Also should I let the store my FI bought my rind do the appraisal?

We put in on our homeowners insurance. Where you bought the ring have them do the appraisal!

Most house or apt insurance will cover it if you list it, just need to call them. We added mine to our house insurance and I think it was only an extra $8 a month.

I also put it on my home owners insurance. They will add an additional schedule for it.

Our rings are insured through Jewelers Mutual. We looked into adding them to our renters insurance, but the coverage was not sufficient in case of breakage, loss, or theft outside of the home.

Your jeweler should handle the appraisals for you.

Most jewelrs can recommend a place for you, I would get it done sooner than later. We put it off and I lost my ring

                  Jewelers Mutual.
Your basic homeowners coverage doesn't have near the peril coverage as JM does. So you have to be very careful with that.

We insured my ring through cooperators which is the same company we have our home and car insurance through. The insurance is specific to my engagement ring rather than an add on to our home insurance.
