Carly its SO funny that you posted this. My best friend and I just decided that we were going to quit smoking (more for me as she 98% quit already) and start running.

 

I've never been able to run in my life between smoking, being out of shape, etc so it will be a great challenge and possible accomplishment for me. I can't even run for the train without getting out of breath! haha. So your 5 minutes is great work Trisha!!!

 

So I was googling and printed out this same plan just the other day. I unfortunately decided to take a nice fall down the stairs the next day though (trying not to take it as an omen LOL) so my foot is all bruised... but I plan to start next weekend or so when it's healed up.

 

Let me know how it goes when you start! I was wondering though- how are u going to time things? I need to get like a digital watch or stop watch or something

I'm not sure about the timing thing. We are going to start it tonight and I figured Matt would either have a timer watch, or my iphone would.

 

Oh and today is 3 weeks since Matt had a cigarette!!!

Yeah i feel like constantly checking a watch would be distracting so I wasn't sure! I'll prob just pick up a cheap digital one at walmart or something...

Just willpower! He said that he went to visit an old friend that's a few years older and he looked OLD. And he smokes alot, so Matt said that he threw his cigs away when he left his house.

I'm hoping even starting the running will make me want to quit more if I don't before hand. I'm really excited about it and so glad you're doing it too so we can compare notes! Maybe one day we can even sign up for a 5k together since we're close!!!

Thanks girls, I'll pass along the + feedback! I've been trying to make sure I tell him I am proud of him w/o appearing to harp on it b/c I don't want it to turn into something he thinks I "nag" (HATE THAT WORD!) him about, but I also want him to know how happy I am he is doing it!

As for the program I haven't done it but it seems like a good plan!!! I'm a big fan of running, its so good for your cardiovascular system keep us posted on how it goes!! I'm so proud of you!
