Hi ladies! Well I signed up for a 22K today for motivation (it is in September). I've done 10K's before but never anything longer. Does anyone have any suggestions for training??

Hey Meliss
Yes, the wine will get you all the time.  I can totally relate.  Don't sweat it.  You will have so much fun with your friend in LV.

Just join me back on the wagon when you return. The 2 Melissa's will succeed.

I am doing OK....just feeling guilty and want to exercise, but having trouble finding the time!!!

I agree, I am only in Vegas for 4 days, so I am going to have me some fun!! :)

I think its the alcohol thats getting me too....you know, a little glass of wine here and there....OK, maybe a little more ;)

I try to stick to only having a glass or two one night on the weekend....but with my bridesmaid visiting, it seems to be wine night every other night!!!!

I felt more motivated after reading this today as well, so feeling like I can make it work, and give myself a bit of a break instead of being so hard.

Lets get back on track together.....the two Melissa's!!!

:)

Hi kabee55,

I guess it depends on when your wedding is. I don't recommend going on an all protein diet until about 2 weeks before your wedding, to shed the last few pounds. Eating all protein, you lack the necessary nutrients your body requires that you get from fruits and veggies. It will also slow your metabolism. And even worse, once you start eating carbs and sugars again, you will most likely gain twice as much weight as you lost. I don't pretend to know what's good for everyone else, but I know from experience going on the Atkins diet a few years back. I lost 15 lbs in about 2 weeks, but then gained back about 25 lbs 3 months later. For me, the best diet is eating small, nutritious meals 5 times a day and complementing it with a balance of weight training and cardio about 4-5 times per week. Doing this, so far I have lost 9 lbs in 4 weeks!

Good luck with whatever diet you decide to go on!

Hey JenK!

My friend and I did a half marathon (about 22k) together 2 years ago and it was so rewarding! Having a training buddy really kept me motivated!

The running room has running groups geared towards all levels if you don't know anyone else running.

We ran about 4 or 5 days a week (one day a week we'd do a long run adding on a few kms each week until race day)... You got this!

I can't believe I got the "you have 143 days left" from my TA the other day!!!  YIKES!

I want to lose 30...its going to be hard.....but as soon as my friend is on her way back to Germany I can get back on track (t-minus 4 more days)....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
