I am dieting with my Fiance. I'm following Weight Watchers and going to the at-work meetings. He is following WW by default -- he doesnt attend meetings but I portion all of his food. We are there to keep one another accountable and so far it's been working. I've lost 12lbs (want to lose another 68lbs, so dont get excited lol).

Keep in mind that men lose weight more quickly, so dont get discouraged when people start telling him that he looks great and that they see major changes in him. I think that will come in time for me. I'm just patiently waiting for people to start noticing haha.

I am definitely NOT dieting with my FI.  Guys have it so much easier and I know I would get frustrated.  I started almost a month ago - dieting, exercising and it sucks.  I'm 40 now so it takes about 3 weeks for the scale to budge which makes it hard to stay motivated.  I've been cranky and my social life has gone to pot since everything revolves around eating and drinking which I'm trying to avoid.  I'm sure my FI will diet the week before the wedding and drop the same 5 pounds it will take me 2 months to lose.  So I'm glad he didn't start at the same time as me.

We are doing this diet that his friend got from a nutritionist.. It's bascially all protein, veggie, and fruit with a few carbs. It's going ok so far.. we have both lost 3-4 lbs but I too am afraid it's gonna come back by October!

I can relate.  I am 42. I excercise at least 4 times a week and starting go to WW 8 wks ago. I have only lost 3lbs.  Social life?  What's that?   Today is Cinco de Mayo.  Everyone is the office is going out for lunch not me.  I have to get weighed in tonight.  I weight myself this morning have not lost a thing.  I actually gianed.  How?  I don't know.  Followed the points, tracked and worked out.  I am also getting very discouraged.  I can't give up.  I am hoping it will show it the way my clothes fits.

That's pretty much almost the same diet we're on. We can only eat 1/2 cup of carbs for breakfast and lunch. The rest is protein, veggie and fruit. We only started this week and we've already both lost about 4 lbs! This CAN'T be real and I'm afraid that once I start adding carbs back into my diet, I'll gain it all back! So I guess we'll have to really be careful until November and just eat THIS healthy for 6 months...yikes!!!

I totally agree!  I am on "the hormone diet" right now.  I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, and didn't want to take synthetic hormones (tried it, and gained 30 pounds!!!!)....I am now off them and have lost 17, but have quite a few to go!!  The hormone diet follows basically what you just described.  Its helping me to get the processed crap out of my diet, and only good carbs (whole grains/or from natural sources like sweet potatoes) and keep cow's milk to a minimum!  I have only been on it a week, and am not weighing myself until next Friday.

I feel great so far!

Of course, if you're already within a healthy weight range for your age and height, it's going to be harder. You may already be doing this but if not and since it's temporary and you only have a few lbs to lose, try going low carb and high (LEAN) protein. Keep all your carbs to oats, All Bran, and veggies/fruit (sweet potatoes are ok, too). Be very careful with your dairy intake, make sure it's skim/fat-free. A lot of people are horrified when I tell them to try eating this way but 1) it works and 2) this is actually a very all-natural way to eat and forces you to eliminate all of the processed crap that we all eat constantly without even realizing it. Goodluck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
